World Homeopathy Day is observed every year on 10th April to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homeopathy.

  • The Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH) under the Ministry of AYUSH organized a scientific conference on the occasion in New Delhi.
  • The conference was inaugurated by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and its theme is 'Homoe Parivar - Universal Health, One Health, One Family'.
  • The conference included sessions on policy aspects, advances in homeopathy, research evidence and clinical experiences in homeopathy.
  • CCRH exchanged Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with various Homeopathic Colleges and Directorate of Homeopathy, Government of Kerala.
  • In addition, a documentary, a portal and eight books of CCRH were released during the event.

History of World Homeopathy Day

  • Samuel Hahnemann was born in Paris on 10 April 1755 and was a renowned physician and scholar.
  • He discovered the fundamental principle of homeopathy, known as "like cures like".
  • Homeopathy is widely used in India and is considered a safe form of treatment with minimal side effects.
  • World Homeopathy Day is organised under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
  • The day aims to raise awareness about homeopathy and its benefits as an alternative form of medicine.

Exercise Cope India 2023

Exercise Cope India 2023, a bilateral air force exercise between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the United States Air Force (USAF), is being held at Air Force Stations Arjan Singh (Panagarh), Kalaikunda (West Bengal) and Agra from 10 April.

  • The aim of the exercise is to enhance mutual understanding between the two air forces and to share their best practices.
  • The first phase of this exercise has started on 10 April 2023. This phase of the exercise will focus on air mobility and will involve transport aircraft and special forces assets from both the air forces.
  • Both countries will field C-130J and C-17 aircraft in the exercise, along with USAF MC-130J operations.
  • The exercise also features the presence of Japanese Air Self Defense Force personnel, who will participate in the capacity of observers.
  • The first Cope India exercise was held in the year 2004 at Tekanpur, Air Force Station, Gwalior.

Uttar Pradesh has set up a state-of-the-art Jatayu Conservation and Breeding Center (JCBC) for the critically endangered Asian king vulture, the first of its kind in the world.

  • The JCBC is designed to maintain a sustainable population of Asian king vultures by breeding them in captivity and releasing them into the wild.
  • The Asian king vulture is protected under the Wildlife Protection Act and is listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.
  • The use of diclofenac in veterinary medicine in India has led to a population decline in recent years, and the JCBC aims to have at least 40 vultures in captivity over 15 years to ensure the sustainable conservation of the species.
  • The Forest Department has partnered with the Bombay Natural History Society for technical guidance.

The Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is on a visit of two African countries Uganda and Mozambique from April 10 to 15, 2023.

  • According to the Union Ministry of External Affairs, the External Affairs Minister will be on a visit to Uganda from 10 to 12 April. During this he will hold delegation level talks with Ugandan Foreign Minister General JJ Odongo.

About CR Rao

  • He is a renowned statistician and Emeritus Eberly Professor in the Department of Statistics, Pennsylvania State University.
  • He was born in Karnataka in 1920 and has been associated with the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata since 1941.
  • Rao has been honoured with several awards throughout his career, including the Padma Bhushan in 1968 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2001.
  • He was also the recipient of the SS Bhatnagar Prize in 1963 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1967.

  • The C-20 is one of the eight official working groups of the G-20 Forum.
  • The 19 countries in the C-20 are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.
  • C-20 India 2023 is one of the official engagement groups of G-20 which provides a platform for civil society organizations (CSOs) in the world to articulate people's aspirations for world leaders in G-20.
  • The walkthrough, organized by the institute, took the delegates to the hospital and highlighted how an integrated approach in healthcare can be effectively implemented for the betterment of humanity.
  • AIIA has also signed an MoU with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University for cooperation and coordination in the field of research and education in the field of Ayurveda.

Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on 10 April launched the 'Vibrant Villages Programme' at Kibithu, a border village in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh.

  • 'Vibrant Village Programme' approved by the government with a central component of Rs 4800 crore including Rs 2500 crore specifically for road connectivity for the financial years 2022-23 to 2025-26.
  • Under the programme, 2967 villages in 46 blocks of 19 districts along the northern border in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Ladakh were identified for comprehensive development.
  • In the first phase, 662 villages have been identified for priority coverage, which includes 455 villages in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • The Union Home Minister will also inaugurate nine micro hydroelectric projects of the Arunachal Pradesh government built under the "Golden Jubilee Border Lighting Programme" at Kibithu.
  • The Union Home Minister will also inaugurate Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) projects to enhance infrastructure at Likabali (Arunachal Pradesh), Chhapra (Bihar), Nooranad (Kerala) and Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh).
