Prime Minister Modi greets women of Telangana on the occasion of Bathukamma

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the women of Telangana on the auspicious occasion of Bathukamma on 25 September 2022.

Bathukamma ‘means ‘Goddess of Life’ and is celebrated during Dussehra. 

It is a state festival of Telangana where women pay respects to nature by making large stacks of flowers, called Bathukamma.

Women decorate a special pot with seasonal flowers, fill the pot with offerings to the goddess, go in a procession, and later immerse the pot in a local pond.

State Symbol of Telangana 

• The State Bird - Palapitta (Indian Roller or Blue Jay).
• The State Animal - Jinka (Deer).
• The State Tree - Jammi Chettu (Prosopis Cineraria).
• The State Flower - Tangedu (Tanner’s Cassia).

West Zone defeats South Zone in final to win the Cricket’s 2022 Duleep trophy

West Zone won the cricket’s Duleep Trophy title (2021-22 season) after defeating South Zone by 294 runs on the fifth and final day in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu on 25 September 2022.

Set a target of 529 runs for an outright win, South Zone were bowled out for 234 in 71.2 overs.

This is the 20th time the West Zone has won the Duleep Trophy. In addition it has also won the trophy 3 times as joint winner. West Zone has won it maximum times .

This year West Zone, South Zone, East Zone, North Zone, Central Zone and north East Zone teams participated in the Duleep Trophy.

South Zone: 327 & 234

Yashasvi Jaiswal of West Zone was declared as the Player of the final and Jaydev Unadkant of West Zone was declared as the Player of the Series. 

Duleep Trophy 

It is an annual first-class cricket competition organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). 

It was named after Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji of Nawanagar (also known as 'Duleep'), and was started by the BCCI in the 1961-62 season.

The whole country is divided into different zones. However from the 2016-17 to 2019-20 seasons, the Duleep Trophy was contested by 3 teams - India Red, India Blue and India Green.

 West Zone won the inaugural Duleep Trophy in 1962.

PM Modi greets Jewish people on Rosh Hashanah

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 September 2022 greeted the Jewish people around the world and specially the people of Israel and its acting Prime Minister Yair Lapid on the Jewish new year of Rosh Hashanah.

Rosh Hashanah is being celebrated around the world from 25 -27 September 2022.

The Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, actually means “Head of the Year in Hebrew language

According to the Jews, on this day God created Adam (first male) and Eve (first female) and thus human being came into being.

The place of worship of Jews are called synagogue,

They worship God as Yahweh.

Their Prophet: Moses.

The state of Israel is the only Jewish country in the world. There are around 15.2 million Jewish people in the world of which 46.2 % live in Israel.

After Israel the United States of America has the 2nd largest Jewish population in the world.

According to some estimates there are around 5000 Jews living in India.

Chandigarh International Airport to be named after Bhagat Singh: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his monthly Mann ki Baat radio programme on 25 September 2022 announced that the Chandigarh International Airport will be named after freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

The announcement of the Prime Minister comes after an agreement was reached between the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Haryana deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on 20 August 2022, to name the airport as Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.

The construction cost of the International Airport will be shared between the Haryana, Punjab Government and the Chandigarh administration.

Chandigarh is a Union Territory under the administration of the Central government and is the joint capital of Haryana and Punjab.

The birth anniversary of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh is on 28 September.

Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurates ‘Arogya Manthan’ to mark the anniversary of flagship health scheme of the government

The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the two days (25-26 September 2022) Arogya Manthan 2022 programme in New Delhi on 25 September 2022. 

The Arogya Manthan has been organised by the National Health Authority (NHA) to celebrate the 4 years of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and 1 year of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

NHA under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare  is the implementing agency of AB PM-JAY and ABDM.

Speaking on the occasion the minister said that presently 4.5 lakh Ayushman cards are being issued per day and the target is to increase it to 10 lakh Ayushman Cards every day. Ayushman card is issued to the beneficiaries of the AB PM-JAY.

Achievements of the AB PM-JAY

 The minister released the annual report, National Health Authority 2021.  The main points of the report regarding the two health schemes are as follows:

• The scheme is presently being implemented in 33 states and Union Territory; 
• Over 19 crore cards have been issued to the individuals till date of which 52 per cent of them were males and 48 per cent females. 
• Under the AB PM-JAY scheme, 3.8 crore of patients were admitted in hospitals across the country with 46% of them in public hospitals and 54% in private hospitals. As much as 52% of these patients were males and 48% were females.

Performance of the states in enrolling patients under AB PM-JAY

•  Goa, Kerala, Haryana, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra were the top five states in which empanelled hospitals admitted the highest number of patients as per the AB PM-JAY. 
• Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Manipur and Mizoram were the top Northeast/Hilly states.
• Puducherry, Chandigarh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep and Ladakh were the top Union Territories.

Performance of the ABDM

The health minister also said that more than 24 crore ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) has been generated in India. 

One crore  health records have been linked digitally under the  Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

National Health Protection Scheme or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)

• Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY)   was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 23rd September, 2018 in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
• It is the largest health assurance scheme in the world which provides a health cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per eligible family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM)

• The Prime Minister launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) via video conferencing on 27th September 2021.
• It aims to provide a health ID (now called as ABHA) to every citizen that will also work as their health account, to which personal health records can be linked and viewed with the help of a mobile application.
•  The data will be available to doctors, hospitals, health insurance companies so that a seamless health care is provided to the patients.
• It is voluntary and no citizen can be forced to join it.

Government of India’s flagship programme ’Make In India’ completes 8 years

The flagship program of the Government of India, 'Make in India’ completed 8 years on 25 September 2022. The programme was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 to transform the country into a leading global manufacturing and investment destination. 

The initiative is an effort of the government to attract foreign investors to invest in India.

Giving the accomplishment of the Make in India Initiative the Union Commerce Ministry highlighted the following accomplishment of the programme.

• Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme across 14 key manufacturing sectors, was launched in 2020-21 as a big boost to Make in India initiative. The PLI Scheme incentivises domestic production in strategic growth sectors where India has comparative advantage.
• Recognising the importance of semiconductors in the world economy, the Government of India has launched a USD 10 billion incentive scheme to build a semiconductor, display, design ecosystem in India.
• The Ministry highlighted that India's export of toys increased to Rs 2601.5 crore in 2021-22 as compared to Rs 1612 crore in 2018-2019, an increase of 61%.
• The Foreign Direct Investment has increased from US $ 45.15 billion in 2014-2015 to record $83.6 billion in 2021-22. 

RBI felicitate banker’s for making Leh achieves 100 percent digitization of banking operations

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has felicitated the bankers of the Leh district for achieving 100 percent digitization of banking operations. 

Digital Banking refers to the electronic banking service provided by a bank for its financial, banking and other transactions through electronic devices online.

Leh is the capital of the union territory of Ladakh and is the highest located district of India.

In 2019 RBI put forward a proposal to make at least one district of every state in the country have 100 percent digitization of banking operations. 

Thrissur district of Kerala became the first fully digital banking district of the country in August 2021.

Kerala is also the first state in India to achieve the target of Financial Inclusion of having at least one bank account in a family.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people of India on the occasion of Mahalaya on 25 September 2022. 

The festival of Mahalaya is observed in different parts of the country on 25 September 2022.

Mahalaya marks the end of Pitru Paksha Shradh (the 16-day lunar day period when Hindus pay homage to their ancestors/Pitrs) and the beginning of Durga Puja festivities. 

Mahalaya is considered to be the day Goddess Durga defeated the demon Mahishasura.

Sanjai Kumar appointed as the CMD of RailTel

The Government of India owned RailTel Corporation of India has appointed Sanjai Kumar as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of the company.

He is an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers.

RailTel, a "Mini Ratna (Category-I)" Central Public Sector Enterprise is an information and communications technology (ICT) provider. It is the one of the largest telecom infrastructure providers in the country owning a pan-India optic fiber network along Railway track.
