Bikram Keshari Arukh, a six-time MLA of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), has been elected unopposed as the Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

  • He has been elected as the 21st Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

  • Arukha replaces 'SN Patro', who resigned from the post of Speaker of the Assembly due to health reasons.

  • MLA Bikram Keshari Arukha was earlier serving as the Chief Whip of the government.

  • Arukha is a continuous MLA from Bhanjnagar since the year 1995.
