External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar co-chaired the 14th meeting of the India-UAE Joint Commission with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on 1 September.

  • The two leaders assessed the remarkable progress made in various areas of cooperation.
  • The External Affairs Minister is on a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

  • He visited the construction site of a Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, which would be the first traditional temple in the Arabian Peninsula.

  • He also visited the construction site of Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in UAE.

  • Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is being constructed by BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.

  • The two leaders signed the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) on 18 February and a vision statement was adopted.
