Background of International Day of Friendship:
In 2011, during the 65th UN session, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the resolution A/65/L.72, proclaiming July 30 of each year as the International Day of Friendship.
The first International Friendship Day was observed in 2011.
