SSC STENO RECRUITMENT 2023

SSC Steno Grade C & D Notification 2023 has been issued by the Staff Selection Commission on 2nd August 2023. The Staff Selection Commission will hold an Open Competitive Computer Based Examination for direct recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, NonGazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’) in various Ministries/Departments/Organizations including their Attached offices, Subordinate offices and Statutory bodies of the Government of India located in various States and Union Territories.

Interested and eligible candidates can apply for the same by visiting the official website of the SSC from 2nd of August to 23rd of August 2023. SSC STENO ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Nationality

A candidate must be either: 

(a) a citizen of India, or 

(b) a subject of Nepal, or 

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or 

(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or 

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

SSC STENO APPLICATION PROCESS 2023

Candidates can apply for this examination through Online Mode. In case you are facing any trouble in filling out the application form, then you can follow these steps to resolve your problem:

  1. Visit the official website of the Commission.

  2. On the homepage you have to opt for Apply tab. After clicking on the tab a new screen will appear where you have to select Steno C & D. 

  3. A link with the title “Stenographer Grade 'C' & 'D' Examination, 2023” appears on the screen.

  4. Now, fill in the required details for the registration process.

  5. Your ID and Password will be sent after the registration process to your registered email address.

  6. Login on the portal with your ID and Password.

  7. Fill in the details which are needed.

  8. Upload your documents in the needed format and size.

  9. Submit your application fee as per your category.

  10. Take a printout of your application form for future reference.

SSC STENO SELECTION PROCESS 2023

1. Computer-Based Test

  • The exam will exclusively consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice questions. The questions will be printed in both English and Hindi.

  • For each incorrect response, 0.25 points will be deducted. Candidates are recommended to keep this in mind when they answer the questions.

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language and Comprehension will be the topics of the questions.

  • Candidates must finish the exam in 2 hours (2 hours and 40 minutes for scribe candidates).

2. Skill Test 

Candidates who are shortlisted in the Computer Based Examination will be required to take the Stenography Skill Test. Candidates will be given one dictation for ten minutes in English or Hindi (as specified in the online Application Form) at a speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for Stenographer Grade "C" and 80 w.p.m. for Stenographer Grade "D." The matter will have to be transcribed on computer.

3. Document Verification 

All the candidates qualified for Document Verification are required to appear for Document Verification along with the photocopies and original documents

  • The exam will be conducted in both medium Hindi as well as English. 

  • Every question carries 1 mark each and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. 

  • This examination will be held in Online Mode only, which is Objective Type in nature.

General Intelligence & Reasoning

It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions. 

General Awareness

Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test the knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

English Language & Comprehension

In addition to the testing of candidates' understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc., his/ her writing ability would also be tested.
