UPSC EPFO EO/AO 2023:

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recruits eligible candidates for the posts of Enforcement Officers (EO) & Accounts Officers (AO), Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC) and other posts in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization. WHAT EXACTLY IS THE EPFO EO/AO?:

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is the social security organisation in charge of running and supervising India's largest mandatory state pension scheme. The post for which UPSC conducts a recruitment drive is UPSC EO/AO & APFC. 

The terms EO and AO refer to the same person. When dealing with fieldwork, he is referred to as EO, and when dealing with office work, he is referred to as AO. Whereas, Assistant Provident Fund Commissioners will report to and be overseen by the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner.

CHECK SOME IMPORTANT DUTIES PERFORMED BY THE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS:

  • To ensure that employers follow the provisions and schemes of the Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act of 1952.

  • Address employee grievances and refer cases to the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner for further action.

  • Conduct surveys as needed, assess coverage potential for new types of establishments

  • Educate employers on the proper completion and timely submission of prescribed forms.

  • Attendance at prosecution cases; 6. Service of summons/warrants on the defaulting employer

  • To confirm facts and documents as requested by the Regional Office.

  • All Enforcement Officers have been designated as Assistant Public Prosecutors and so on….

SALARY STRUCTURE AND PROMOTION OF UPSC EPFO ENFORCEMENT OFFICER:

After successfully completing the UPSC EPFO Examination selection process, a candidate will be appointed on probation for two years. During this time, you will be paid at Level-8 of the 7th Pay Commission.

On successful completion of 4 years of regular service in level-8 in the pay matrix Rs.47600-151100, Enforcement Officers are promoted to Level-9 in the pay matrix Rs.53100-167800. The EPFO's promotional hierarchy is as follows:

  • Enforcement Officer/Accounts Officer.

  • Assistant PF Commissioner

  • Regional PF Commissioner-II

  • Regional PF Commissioner-I

  • Additional Central PF commissioner-II
