CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION (CSE) 2022

CIVIL SERVICES OVERVIEW:

Civil Services Examination is a very reputed examination which is conducted by the UPSC(Union Public Service Commission). It is the toughest competitive examination in India for the recruitment of higher level Civil Servants. This examination is conducted for recruiting the candidates for various posts like Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, and Indian Police Service.

As per the latest information, the notification has been released on February 2, 2022. Some important dates regarding the examination of this year, 2022 is given below:

CIVIL SERVICES APPLICATION:

Vacancy for Civil Services Examination 2022 will be mentioned in the notification issued by UPSC. There will be 861 vacancies this year, 2022.

For the year 2021, the number of vacancies under this examination was 712.

ATTEMPTS

A candidate can attempt this examination for a maximum 6 times but according to the government rules category wise no of attempts are given below:

GEN- 6 Times

PwBD- 9 Times  

SC/ST- Unlimited (till 37 years)

OBC- 9 Times

HOW TO APPLY?

2. Now,  click on the online recruitment

3. Now,  apply for the new registration

4. Now, read the information carefully and click to proceed further.

5. Tap  on the new registration.

6. Now, login with your registration ID and Password.

7. Now, carefully fill all the required details such as your name, contact details, parental details, etc.

8. Now, upload your required documents in needed format and size.

9. Pay your application fee through net banking.

Note: An application fee for the unreserved category and OBC is Rs100/- and exempted for the SC/ST/PWD and females.

ADMIT CARD OR HALL TICKET

Before 10 or 15 days of the examination your admit card will be uploaded on the official website of the commission. You can download your Admit Card by following these steps:

1. Go to the official website i,e.  Click Here

2. Now, click the exam admit card.

3. Now, enter your registration details such as your registration ID and Password.

4. Your admit card appears on the screen.

5. Now download your admit card and take the printout for the further process.

(Note: Admit card or hall ticket is the most important document for your examination in which all required details such as your name, date of birth, photo, registration details, name of your center, date of your examination and reporting time of your examination is also written). Without your admit card you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall

CIVIL SERVICES ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

IAS / IPS- Candidates must be a graduate and those who are in their final year of graduation can also apply for the same.

IFS- Candidates must be a graduate  with Animal Husbandry / Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Biology,  Geology, Mathematics, Zoology, Agriculture or Equivalent..

AGE

Candidates must be between the age 21 years to 32 years.

Category wise age limit is given ahead according to the guidelines:

NATIONALITY

The candidate must be an Indian citizen (in case the candidate migrated here to be the permanent citizen of India can also apply for the same) to become eligible for applying in civil services examination.

CIVIL SERVICES EXAM PATTERN:

Exams of the UPSC will be conducted in 3 stages or phases and will consist  of prelims, mains and the interview stage. 

Stage I: Preliminary Examination

The preliminary stage of Civil Services Examination consists of 2 compulsory papers which are General Ability Test and Civil Service Aptitude. It is an objective type paper. Each wrong answer will lead to the deduction of ⅓ marks .

Stage II: Mains

The Mains examination contains 9 papers which are subjective / conventional in nature. 

Stage III: INTERVIEW

In this round the intelligence and personality of the aspirants will be measured and analysed by the commission. This round will be of 275 marks.

UPSC Preliminary Examination Syllabus

• Current Events of National and International Importance.

• History of India and Indian National Movement.

• Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.

• Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.

• Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.

• General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization.

• General Science.

Paper II - 

• Comprehension; Interpersonal Skills including Communication Skills.

• Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability.

• Decision Making and Problem Solving.

• General Mental Ability.

• Basic Numeracy (Numbers and their Relations, Orders of Magnitude, etc.

• Data Interpretation 

• Note 1: Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.

Note 2: The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type.

• History of the World will include events from 18th century such as Industrial Revolution, world wars, Redrawal of National Boundaries, Colonization, Decolonization,  Capitalism, Socialism etc.— their forms and effect on the society.Salient features of Indian Society, Diversity of India.Role of Women and Women’s Organization, Population and Associated Issues, Poverty and Developmental issues, Urbanization, their problems and their remedies.

Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude

• This paper will include questions to test the candidates’ attitude and approach to issues relating to integrity, probity in public life and his problem solving approach to various issues and conflicts faced by him in dealing with society. Questions may utilise the case study approach to determine these aspects. The following broad areas will be covered:

• Ethics and Human Interface: Essence, Determinants and Consequences of Ethics in , Human Actions; Dimensions of Ethics; Ethics - in Private and Public Relationships. Human Values - Lessons from the Lives and Teachings of Great Leaders, Reformers and Administrators; Role of Family Society and Educational Institutions in Inculcating Values.

• Attitude: Content, Structure, Function; its Influence and Relation with Thought and Behaviour; Moral and Political Attitudes; Social Influence and Persuasion.

• Aptitude and Foundational Values for Civil Service, Integrity, Impartiality and Non-partisanship, Objectivity, Dedication to Public Service, Empathy, Tolerance and Compassion towards the weaker-sections.

• Emotional Intelligence: Concepts, and their Utilities and Application in Administration and Governance.

• Contributions of Moral Thinkers and Philosophers from India and World.
