Important Point :

• In the year  1928,  under the leadership of  Chandrashekhar  Azad,  the name of 'The Hindustan Republican Association' was changed to the 'Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA)' at Ferozeshah Kotla Maidan in Delhi.
• The aim of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association was to overthrow colonial power through armed revolution.
•   A revolutionary organization named the 'Hindustan Republic Association' was founded by Jogesh Chandra Chatterjee Shachindranath Sanyal and Ramprasad Bismil in a conference held in  Kanpur in October 1924.

• Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay was a great novelist and poet of India. His epic novel Anandamath was influenced by the backdrop of the Sanyasi rebellion.

• His famous novels are Kapalkundla, Devi Chaudhurani, Bishabriksha (The Poison Tree), Chandrasekhara, Rajmohan's wife and Krishnakantar.
• Sunil Gangopadhyay was a famous Bengali litterateur honored with the Saraswati Samman.
• Sunil Gangopadhyay was the founder editor of Kritika magazine. He was also the president of Sahitya Akademi.
• Michael Madhusudan Dutt was a famous Bengali poet, litterateur and dramatist.
