The Indian Air Force is inviting online applications from unmarried male and female candidates for the selection test. AGNIVEER VAYU INTAKE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 2023

Nationality

Only Indian citizens (male & female) are eligible to apply for the Agniveer Vayu Intanke recruitment 2023.

Age Limit

Candidates should be born between 27 June 2003 and 27 December 2006 (both dates inclusive) to apply for the Agniveer Vayu Intake. In case, a candidate clears all the stages of the Selection Procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrolment should be 21 years.

Candidates should have passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English from Education Boards recognized by Central, State and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

Passed Three years of Diploma Courses in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology) from Central, State and UT recognized Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Diploma Course (or in Intermediate/Matriculation if English is not a subject in Diploma Course). OR 

Passed Two years of Vocational Course with non-vocational subject viz. Physics and Mathematics from Education Boards recognized by Central, State and UT with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in English in Vocational Course (or Intermediate / Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Vocational Course).

Other than Science Subjects

Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards listed as COBSE member with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. 

OR 

Passed two years’ vocational course from Education Boards listed as COBSE member with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in the vocational course or in Intermediate / Matriculation if English is not a subject in Vocational Course.

Note - 1: Candidates who have completed their education in Science subjects, including Intermediate/10+2, a three-year diploma course in engineering, or a two-year vocational course with non-vocational subjects of Physics and Maths, are eligible for both Science and Other than Science Subjects examinations. During the online registration process, candidates will have the option to choose to appear for either or both of these examinations in a single sitting.

Note - 2: Only education boards listed as members on the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) website (cobse.org.in) at the time of registration will be considered for eligibility.

Note - 3: The exact aggregate percentage of marks, as mentioned on the mark sheet of the 10+2/Intermediate/equivalent examination, three-year diploma course, or two-year vocational course, will be taken into account. The percentage should be considered without rounding off the decimal point (e.g., 49.99% should be considered as 49% and not rounded off to 50%).

Marital Status

  • Only unmarried Indian male and female candidates are eligible to join the IAF as Agniveervayu. At the time of enrollment, candidates must provide proof of being "unmarried." 

  • Agniveervayu will be barred from marrying for the duration of their four-year service in the IAF. A candidate may be dismissed from service if he or she marries during his or her tenure or is discovered to be already married despite providing a certificate stating that he or she is "unmarried."

PHYSICAL / MEDICAL STANDARDS

To get selected as an Agniveervayu, the candidate must be physically and mentally fit to perform duties in any part of the world, climate and terrain. Physical/ medical standards to become an Agniveervayu are as follows:-

Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cms (For Male candidates) and 152 cms (For Female candidates).

Weight

Weight should be proportionate to height and age as applicable for IAF.

Chest

The chest wall should be well proportioned with a minimum range of expansion of 05 cms (For Male and Female candidates)

Hearing

Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whispers from a distance of 6 meters by each ear separately. 

Dental

Should have healthy gums, a good set of teeth and a minimum of 14 dental points

General Health

Candidate should be of normal anatomy without loss of any appendages. He should be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability or infectious diseases, infection and skin ailments. Candidate shall be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.

Note:

  1. Candidates are advised to get tartar and stains removed from their teeth before appearing for the medical examination. Ears should be free of wax. Candidates should be prepared to stay for the medical test for four to five days under their own arrangement. No TA/ DA shall be admissible.

  2. Passing in the medical examination is not a guarantee for employment in Indian Air Force.

Body Tattoo

Permanent body tattoos are not permitted, however, tattoos only on the inner face of the fore arms (inside of elbow to the wrist), back (dorsal) part of the hand/ reverse side of the palm and Tribals with tattoo which are as per the custom traditions of their tribes may be considered. However, the right to decide on the acceptability/ unacceptability of the individual rests with the Selection Centre. Candidates with permanent body tattoos are to submit two photographs (close-up and distinct view) with details of the size and type of the tattoo.

The candidate should have normal anatomy with no missing appendages. He or she must be free of any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability, communicable disease, infection, or skin condition. The candidate must be physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.

  5. Pay your application fee using one of the available online payment methods, such as a credit card, debit card, or net banking.

  6. Now click on submit button. You can successfully submit your application after paying the exam fee.

AGNIVEER VAYU INTAKE SELECTION PROCESS 2023

The selection process consists of 3 phases explained below:-

Phase-I

Online Written Test: Online test will be objective type and questions will be bilingual (English & Hindi) except for English paper. Online tests for candidates opting for both Science subjects and other Science subjects shall be conducted in one sitting, on the same system. Candidates are to bring one blue/black pen and an original AADHAR card for Phase-I testing.

Phase-II

Soon after the Phase-I (Online) Test results will be announced, a cut-off will be applied based on the marks earned by the candidates in the Phase-I Test, and SHORTLISTED candidates are called for the Phase-II test at a designated ASC. This phase includes the following assessments:

  • Additional Skills / Qualifications / Achievements

  • Verification of Eligibility

  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

  • Adaptability Test- I

  • Adaptability Test-II

Candidates who qualify for Adaptability Test-II shall be issued with a medical appointment letter at their respective ASCs.

Phase-I

Phase-II

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

Shortlisted candidates shall be called at designated ASC for Physical Fitness Test (PFT) which would consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed within Seven minutes (For male candidates) and Eight minutes (For female candidates). Male candidates shall also have to complete 10 Push-ups, 10 Sit-ups and 20 Squats within the stipulated time as per the following to qualify for the Physical Fitness Test.

Adaptability Test- I.

All candidates who pass the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) shall have to undertake Adaptability Test-I (objective type written test) which is to assess the suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions.

Adaptability Test-II

All candidates who pass Adaptability Test-I shall have to undertake Adaptability Test-II as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test-II is to select candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian Air Force and are able to adjust to the military way of life.

Phase-III

MEDICAL EXAMINATION

Medical examination shall be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards and policy in vogue on the subject issue. Medical examination would also include Baseline Investigation of the following:-

  • Blood Haemogram - Hb, TLC, DLC

  • Urine RE/ME

  • Biochemistry:-


    • Blood Sugar Fasting & PP

    • Serum Cholesterol

    • Urea, Uric acid, Creatinine

    • LFT—Serum Bilirubin, SGOT, SGPT.

  • X-Ray chest (PA view)

  • ECG (R)

  • Tests for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Abuse.

  • Any other test necessary in the opinion of the Medical Officer.

  • Candidates declared medically unfit can avail the option for ‘Appeal Medical Board’ (AMB) against their unfitness by depositing Rs. 40/- in a Government Treasury/RBI/SBI through an Electronic Military Receivable Order/ Military Receivable Order (e MRO/ MRO)

  • The application for AMB along with an original copy of e-MRO/ MRO, and photocopy of Unfitness Certificate are to be submitted to the representative of ASC within three working days of medical examination.

The recruitment medical officer and the specialist doctors of the Armed Forces are the final authorities on declaring a candidate fit or unfit during the initial medical examination, appeal medical board and medical examination prior to enrolment.

The candidates shall be governed by Armed Forces standards which may be a variance from civil standards. There is no provision for representation or review after the appeal medical board.

Agniveer Vayu Intake Syllabus

AGNIVEER VAYU INTAKE SALARY

Agniveervayu enrolled under this Scheme will be paid an Agniveervayu package of ₹ 30,000/- per month with a fixed yearly increment. In addition, Risk and Hardship allowances (as applicable in IAF), Dress and Travel allowances will be paid.

  1. Terminal Benefits-Seva Nidhi Package. As brought out at Para 20 (b), Agniveervayu will be given one-time Seva Nidhi package comprising their monthly contribution along with matching contribution by the Government on completion of their engagement period, as indicated below:-

Note 1: Agniveervayu will not be required to contribute to any Provident Fund of the Government.
Note 2: There shall be no entitlement to any gratuity and any kind of pensionary benefits in the case of Agniveervayu.

  1. Leave. Grant of leave will be subject to exigencies of the organization. The following leave may be applicable for Agniveervayu during their engagement period:-


    1. Annual Leave. 30 days per year.

    2. Sick Leave. Based on medical Advice.

  2. Medical and CSD Facilities. For the duration of their engagement period in IAF, Agniveervayu will be entitled for medical facility at Service Hospitals as well as CSD provisions.

  3. Life insurance cover. Agniveervayu will be provided non-contributory life insurance cover of ₹ 48 lakhs for the duration of their engagement period as Agniveervayu in IAF and they will not be eligible for Air Force Group Insurance Fund (AFGIS) schemes/ benefits.

  4. Compensation for Death. Agniveervayu will not be governed by provisions contained in the Pension Regulations/ Rules for IAF(as amended from time to time). In case of death, the following will be admissible to Next of Kin (NOK) from the Agniveer Corpus Fund:-


    1. Insurance cover as applicable (as per para 23 above).

  5. Categorisation of Death. The death for the purpose of provision of financial benefits to Agniveervayu will be categorised as follows:-


    1. Category X. Death due to natural causes neither attributable to nor aggravated by military service during the engagement period.

    2. Category Y. Death due to causes which are accepted as attributable to or aggravated by military service or due to accidents/ mishaps in the performance of duties including training during the engagement period.

    3. Category Z. During the engagement period, death due to acts of violence/attack by terrorists, anti-social elements, enemy, during border skirmishes/war/ peacekeeping operations/ aid to civil power, etc; and during operational preparation and training for war including battle inoculation training/ exercise; and accidental deaths due to natural calamities/ operations specially notified by the Govt, etc.

  6. Compensation for Disability. In case an individual is placed in the Permanent Low Medical Category (LMC), the authorities will assess the compensation based on percentage of disability and attributability. The extent of disability or functional incapacity shall be determined in the following manner for the purpose of computing the disability compensation:-

A. To be eligible to apply for the AgniveerVAYU positions a candidate must have a 10+2 or Intermediate exam in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Math, and English. They must also have a total of 50% and 40% in each subject.

  • Second Year - Rs. 33,000 Per Month

  • Third Year - Rs. 36,500 Per Month

  • Fourth Year - Rs. 40,000 Per Month

Exit after 4 years - The Agniveer will get Rs. 10.04 Lakhs as Seve Nidhi Package the amount will not include the interest.


Q. What is the Application Date and Exam Date for Agniveer Vayu 01/2023?

A. Candidates can apply for the examination from  07 November 2022 to 23 November 2022 and the examination for the same will be going to be conducted from 18 January 2023 to 24 January 2023.


Q. Can the Agniveer candidates opt for enrolment in the permanent cadre?

A. As per the official information by the IAF and based on organisational requirements and policies promulgated by the Armed Forces, 100% of Agniveers will be offered the opportunity to apply for enrolment in the permanent cadre after completing their engagement period (4 Years). After being reviewed by a centralised, transparent, and rigorous screening system based on merit and demonstrated performance while serving, 25% of the Agniveers would be chosen for enrolment in the permanent Cadre. 


Q. When will the result of AgniveerVAYU 2023 be declared?

A. The result of the Agniveer Vayu Intake 2023 examination will be tentatively declared in the mid of February 2023.
