• “Mission Targeting” will be implemented to enhance the performance of athletes.
• "Tent cities" will be set up at ten tourist spots across the state.
• An outlay of Rs 2,843 crore has been announced for the Women and Child Development Department under inclusive development.
• Under the new scheme Lek Ladki, families with yellow and orange ration cards will get a subsidy of Rs 5,000 after the birth of a girl child, Rs 4,000 in class I, Rs 6,000 in class VI, and Rs 8,000 in class XI.

• 2022-23 के संशोधित अनुमानों की तुलना में बजट का आकार 20,740 करोड़ रुपये अधिक है।
• बजट में एथलीटों के प्रदर्शन को बढ़ाने के लिए "मिशन लक्ष्यवेध" आरंभ किया जाएगा। 
• राज्य भर में दस पर्यटन स्थलों पर "तम्बू शहर" स्थापित किए जाएंगे।
• समावेशी विकास के तहत महिला एवं बाल विकास विभाग के लिए 2,843 करोड़ रुपये के परिव्यय की घोषणा।
• नई योजना लेक लड़की के तहत, पीले और नारंगी राशन कार्ड धारक परिवारों को बालिका के जन्म के बाद 5,000 रुपये, कक्षा पहली में 4,000 रुपये, कक्षा छठी में 6,000 रुपये और कक्षा ग्यारहवीं में 8,000 रुपये की सब्सिडी मिलेगी।

• Additional cash benefit for farmers of six thousand rupees under the ‘Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi’ that will supplement the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Samman Nidhi Yojana. 
• The scheme will benefit 1.15 crore farmers while the State will bear a burden of 6900 crores annually. 
• Cash benefit of 1800 rupees per year for farmers in 14 suicide-hit districts instead of grains distributed through PDS. 
• Provide crop insurance to farmers at a nominal rate of one rupee.

• इस योजना से 1.15 करोड़ किसानों को लाभ होगा जबकि राज्य पर सालाना 6900 करोड़ का बोझ पड़ेगा।
• पीडीएस के माध्यम से वितरित अनाज के बदले 14 आत्महत्या प्रभावित जिलों में किसानों के लिए प्रति वर्ष 1800 रुपये का नकद लाभ।
• किसानों को एक रुपये की मामूली दर पर फसल बीमा प्रदान की गई है।

Indian Navy's indigenously built Guided Missile Frigate, INS Sahyadri participated in the Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) with French Navy (FN) ships in the Arabian Sea from 10 - 11 March 2023.

Important Points:

• French Navy (FN) ships FS Dixmude, a Mistral-class amphibious assault ship, and FS La Fayette, a La Fayette class frigate participated in the exercise.
• The exercise featured a wide spectrum of development at sea which included cross-deck landings, boarding exercises, and seamanship development.
• INS Sahyadri is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors capable of detecting and neutralising air, surface, and sub-surface threats.
• The ship is a part of the Indian Navy's Eastern Fleet based at Visakhapatnam, under the operational control of FOCinC (East).

California-based Silicon Valley Bank (SVB),the16th largest bankin the United States, was closed on 9 March by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation.

• It is the biggest banking failure since the 2008 financial crisis.
• It is considered the biggest financial crisis since the collapse of Washington Mutual and Lehman Brothers during the 2008 recession.
• The regulator appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. as the receiver.
• As of December 31, 2022, the Silicon Valley Bank had approximately $209.0 billion in total assets and about $175.4 billion in total deposits. 
• The FDIC created a new bank, the National Bank of Santa Clara, to hold the failed bank's deposits and other assets. The new entity began operating.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway in Karnataka to the nation on 12 March. Also inaugurated the world's longest railway platform at Hubli.

Important Points:

• Built at a cost of over Rs 8400 crore, the 10-lane Bengaluru- Mysuru Expressway will boost connectivity and socio-economic development in Karnataka.
• The 118 km long Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway will reduce the travel time between Bengaluru and Mysuru from three hours to about 75 minutes.
• In addition to the said project, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for several other projects, including the Mysore-Kushalnagar Highway, the new campus of IIT Dharwad, the world's longest railway platform at Hubli, electrification of Hospete-Hubli-Tinaghat section, Jayadeva Hospital, and Research Centre, Smart City Program of Hubli-Dharwad, Dharwad Multi Village Water Supply Scheme and Tupparihalla Flood Damage Control Project.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने 12 मार्च को कर्नाटक में बेंगलुरु-मैसूर एक्सप्रेसवे राष्ट्र को समर्पित किया। साथ ही हुबली में दुनिया का सबसे लंबा रेलवे प्लेटफॉर्म का शुभारंभ किया।

The Indian Army installed a 100-foot-high national flag in the mountainous  Doda  district of Jammu and Kashmir on 9 March. 

Important Points:

• The effort is aimed at paying a befitting tribute to the innumerable soldiers who laid down their lives for the country.
• In July 2022, a 100-feet high national flag was installed in  Kishtwar city.
• Major General Ajay Kumar, General Officer Commanding of the Army's Delta Force, unfurled the tallest flag at the Doda Sports Stadium in Sector 9.

• जुलाई 2022 में  किश्तवाड़  शहर में 100 फुट ऊंचा राष्ट्रीय ध्वज स्थापित किया गया था।
• सेना के डेल्टा फोर्स के जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग  मेजर जनरल अजय कुमार  ने सेक्टर 9 में डोडा स्पोर्ट्स स्टेडियम में सबसे ऊंचे झंडे को फहराया।

According to the recently released 'Landslide Atlas' report of ISRO's Hyderabad-based National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC), the two hilly districts of Uttarakhand, Rudraprayag and Tehri, are most prone to landslides.

Important Points:

• The National Remote Sensing Center has released a list of 147 districts prone to landslides across the country, in which Rudraprayag is at number one and Tehri at number two.
• Kerala's Thrissur and Palakkad districts are at 3rd and 5th spots respectively.
• Rajouri and Pulwama (J&K), Kozhikode and Malappuram (Kerala), and South Sikkim and East Sikkim (Sikkim) are the other high-risk districts.
• According to the District Emergency Operation Centre, Rudraprayag has 32 old landslide zones, the maximum of which are located on NH-107.
• Tehri district has over two dozen landslide zones, including Totaghati which has been identified as a "very chronic landslide site".

इसरो के हैदराबाद स्थित नेशनल रिमोट सेंसिंग सेंटर (NRSC) की हाल ही में जारी 'लैंडस्लाइड एटलस' की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार उत्तराखंड के दो पहाड़ी जिलों रुद्रप्रयाग और टिहरी पर भूस्खलन का सबसे ज्यादा खतरा है।

• नेशनल रिमोट सेंसिंग सेंटर ने देश भर में लैंडस्लाइड की दृष्टि से संवेदनशील 147 जिलों की लिस्ट जारी की है जिसमें रुद्रप्रयाग पहले और टिहरी दूसरे नंबर पर हैं।
• केरल के त्रिशूर और पलक्कड़ जिले क्रमशः तीसरे और पांचवें स्थान पर हैं।
• राजौरी और पुलवामा (जम्मू-कश्मीर), कोझिकोड और मलप्पुरम (केरल), और दक्षिण सिक्किम और पूर्वी सिक्किम (सिक्किम) अन्य उच्च जोखिम वाले जिले हैं।
• जिला आपातकालीन संचालन केंद्र के अनुसार, रुद्रप्रयाग में 32 पुराने भूस्खलन क्षेत्र हैं, जिनमें से अधिकतम NH-107 पर स्थित है।
• टिहरी जिले में दो दर्जन से अधिक भूस्खलन क्षेत्र हैं, जिसमें तोताघाटी भी शामिल है, जिसे "बहुत पुराने भूस्खलन स्थल" के रूप में पहचाना गया है।

Union Minister for MSME Narayan Rane launched the MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme on 10 March.

Important Points:

• It aims to provide a roadmap to global competitiveness for the MSMEs of India.
• The scheme will not only strive to improve quality, productivity, and performance but also change the mindset of manufacturers and provide them the ability to become world-class manufacturers.
• Through this scheme, MSMEs can significantly reduce wastage, increase productivity, improve quality, expand their markets, operate in a safer manner, and ultimately become competitive and profitable.

एमएसएमई के केंद्रीय मंत्री नारायण राणे ने 10 मार्च को एमएसएमई प्रतिस्पर्धी (एलईएएन) योजना लॉन्च की।

• इसका उद्देश्य भारत के एमएसएमई के लिए वैश्विक प्रतिस्पर्धात्मकता के लिए एक रोडमैप प्रदान करना है।
• यह योजना न केवल गुणवत्ता, उत्पादकता और प्रदर्शन में सुधार करने का प्रयास करेगा, बल्कि निर्माताओं की मानसिकता को बदलने और उन्हें विश्व स्तर के निर्माता बनाने की क्षमता भी प्रदान करेगा।

Important Points:

• The purpose of this day is to recognize the efforts and contribution made by women judges.
• International Day of Women Judges observed with the campaign"Women in Justice, Women for Justice"to encourage full and equal participation of women at all levels of the judicial system, and raise awareness of the challenges ahead .

• On April 28, 2021, theUnited Nations General Assembly (UNGA) enacted resolution 75/274,designating March 10 as the International Day of Women Judges.
• International Women Judges Day was celebrated for the first time on March 10, 2022.

• 28 अप्रैल, 2021 कोसंयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा (UNGA) ने प्रस्ताव 75 / 274लागू किया, इसमें 10मार्च को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला न्यायाधीश दिवस के रूप में नामित किया गया।

The United States Senate has confirmed the appointment of Indian-American  Arun Subramanian as the  District Judge for the Southern District of New York.

Important Points:

• With this, Subramanian has become the first South Asian judge to serve on this bench.
• Earlier, in September 2022, US President Joe Biden had announced Subramanian's nomination to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
• Subramanian received his Juris Doctor (J.D) from Columbia Law School in 2004 and his BA from Case Western Reserve University in 2001.

International Women's Day was observed on 8 March 2023 with the theme "DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality".

• Last year, prices in the power exchange had shot up to Rs 20 in a few days, prompting the CERC to impose a cap of Rs 12 on the exchange, so that there was no profiteering.
• This limit was applicable in day ahead market and real time market from April 1, 2022 and May 6, 2022 across all segments. This move made the price reasonable for the buyers.
• High Price Day Ahead Market and Surplus Power Portalis one of its kind initiatives, which reflects the ingenuity of the Ministry of Power and the regulator.

• At the invitation of Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo visited Delhi from March 7 to 10.
• During the visit, the India-US commercial dialogue was resumed on 10 March to discuss cooperation and open up new trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
• The MoU aims to establish a collaborative mechanism between the two governments on semiconductor supply chain resilience and diversification in the wake of the Chips and Science Act of the US and the Semiconductor Mission of India.
• Semiconductor Chipsis a material which has conductivity between conductor and insulator. Compounds of silicon or  germanium or gallium, arsenide or cadmium selenide are used in this.

Khelo India Dus Ka Dum tournamentwas launched on 10 March 2023 atJawaharlal Nehru Stadiumby Youth Affairs and Sports MinisterAnurag Singh Thakur in New Delhi.

Important Points:

• As part of the International Women's Day 2023 celebrations, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is organising the Khelo India Dus Ka Dum tournament from March 10 to 31.
• Around 15,000 women athletes from more than 50 cities in the country are participating in the competition. It includes 10 games.
• Competitions will be held across 10 different sports - kho kho, wushu, weightlifting, fencing, archery, swimming, basketball, judo, athletics and yogasana.
• The tournament aims to provide a platform to women athletes who are unable to participate in national or state level competitions.
• It also aims to ensure that competitive sport reaches untapped geographical areas.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on 9 March arrested former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin on the charges of corruption.

Important Points-

• Muhyiddin, who was Malaysia's prime minister for 17 months between 2020 and 2021, has been charged under laws related to abuse of power and money laundering.
• He and his party have faced a corruption investigation after losing the November election to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
• Muhyiddin, who is also chairman of Barsatu, a major opposition party in Malaysia's ruling coalition, would be the second former prime minister to be indicted.
• Another former Malaysian prime minister, Najib Razak, is also serving a 12-year prison sentence for corruption.

• The winners of the 2023 award are Odisha State Disaster Management Authority and Lunglei Fire Station of Mizoram.
• The main theme of the 3rd session of this Platform is “Building Local Resilience in a Changing Climate”.
• The theme of the session is in line with the 10-point agenda announced by the Prime Minister for building local capacities, especially in the context of the rapidly changing disaster risk landscape in the wake of climate change.
• The Prime Minister also inaugurated the exhibition to showcase innovative ideas and initiatives and technologies in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction.
