On 15th March 2023, The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates  to encourage innovation in financial products and services.

• The agreement involves the two central banks working together to explore Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and check interoperability between CBDCs of the Central Bank UAE (CBUAE) and the RBI.

• The MoU also includes technical cooperation and knowledge sharing on matters related to fintech and financial products and services.

The secondG-20 Sustainable Financial Working Group (SFWG)meeting was held from 21 to 23 March 2023 inUdaipur, Rajasthan.

• The purpose of the meeting is to mobilise sustainable finance to help ensure global growth and stability.
• Around 150 delegates from G20 member states, guest countries and various international organisations will participate in the meeting.

Punjab Education Ministry organised the second G-20 Education Working Group meeting in Amritsar from 15 to 17 March 2023.

Important Points:

• 28 G20 member countries, guest countries and invited organisations (OECD, UNESCO and UNICEF) are participating in the three-day event, which includes seminars, exhibitions and working group meetings.
• A seminar on 'Strengthening research and promoting innovation through rich collaborations' will be organised by IIT Ropar in collaboration with IISc Bengaluru, IIM Amritsar and TISS Mumbai at Khalsa College.
• The first meeting of G20 Education Working Group (G20 EWG) 2023 was held in Chennai on 1st and 2nd February.

A successful flight test of the Power Take Off (PTO) shaft was conducted by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas in Bengaluru on 14 March.

Important Points:

• First successful flight test of PTO shaft on LCA Tejas Limited Series Production (LSP)-3 aircraft.
• The PTO shaft has been indigenously designed and developed by the Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), Chennai of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
• The PTO is an important device that transmits power from the aircraft engine to the gearbox.
• With this successful test, DRDO has achieved a major technological achievement with the realisation of complex high-speed rotor technology that only a few countries have achieved.
• LCA Tejas is a single-engine multi-role light combat aircraft.

• एलसीए तेजस लिमिटेड सीरीज प्रोडक्शन (एलएसपी)-3 विमान पर पीटीओ शाफ्ट का पहला सफल उड़ान परीक्षण किया गया।
• पीटीओ शाफ्ट को रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन (डीआरडीओ) के लड़ाकू वाहन अनुसंधान एवं विकास प्रतिष्ठान (सीवीआरडीई), चेन्नई द्वारा स्वदेशी रूप से डिजाइन और विकसित किया गया है।
• पीटीओ एक महत्वपूर्ण उपकरण है जो विमान के इंजन से गियरबॉक्स तक बिजली पहुंचाता है।

The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on 14 March announced the appointment of Tablesh Pandey and M. Jagannath as Managing Directors of the corporation.

Important Points:

• Tablesh Pandey will take over from 1 April 2023, while M Jagannath took over on 13 March 2023.
• The two managing directors who are to retire from the corporation in March 2023 are Raj Kumar and B.C. Patnaik.
• Tablesh Pandey is currently the Executive Director of the LIC.
• Siddhartha Mohanty, who is serving as the Managing Director of LIC, has taken charge of the financial and administrative powers and functions of the Chairman of LIC of India in the interim.

India and Sweden signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to strengthen cooperation and promote research networking between the research institutes of both countries.

In the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the proposal to give 10% horizontal reservation in government jobs to the state agitators and their dependents was approved.

Important Points:

• For the last 12 years, the workers agitating for the formation of the state are not getting the benefit of reservation in government jobs.
• Along with this, it was decided to increase the MLA Area Development Fund from Rs.3.75 crore to Rs.5 crore.
• Uttarakhand was formed in November 2000, before that there were agitations regarding its formation.
• Apart from this, a decision was also taken in the meeting to give Rs 40 lakh instead of Rs 25 lakh to Mahila Mangal Dals consisting of local women working as sports coaches.

मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी की अध्यक्षता में हुई प्रदेश मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक में राज्य आंदोलनकारियों और उनके आश्रितों को सरकारी नौकरियों में 10 प्रतिशत क्षैतिज आरक्षण देने के प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दे दी गई।

महत्वपूर्ण बिंदु:-

• राज्य के गठन के लिए आंदोलन करने वाले कार्यकर्ताओं को विगत 12 वर्षों से सरकारी नौकरियों में आरक्षण का लाभ नहीं मिल रहा है।
• इसके साथ ही विधायक क्षेत्र विकास निधि को 3.75 करोड़ रुपये से बढ़ाकर पांच करोड़ रुपये करने का फैसला किया गया। 
• उत्तराखंड का गठन नवंबर 2000 में हुआ था, इससे पहले इसके गठन को लेकर आंदोलन हुए थे।
• इसके अलावा बैठक में खेल प्रशिक्षकों के तौर पर काम करने वाली स्थानीय महिलाओं वाले महिला मंगल दलों को 25 लाख रुपये की जगह 40 लाख रुपये देने का निर्णय भी किया गया।
