सरकारी कर्मचारियों के प्रशिक्षण के लिए सरकार के महत्वाकांक्षी मिशन कर्मयोगी कार्यक्रम के कार्यान्वयन की निगरानी के लिए कैबिनेट सचिव राजीव गौबा के नेतृत्व में सात सचिवों सहित एक शीर्ष पैनल का गठन किया गया है।

महत्वपूर्ण बिंदु:

• यह कैबिनेट सचिवालय की समन्वय समिति है जो मिशन कर्मयोगी की देखरेख करेगी।
• यह कार्यक्रम की प्रगति की समीक्षा करेगा और सभी लोक सेवकों की भूमिका से मेल खाने के लिए दक्षताओं को प्रशिक्षित करने और उन्नत करने के लिए सरकार का मार्गदर्शन करेगा।
• सिविल सेवा क्षमता निर्माण के राष्ट्रीय कार्यक्रम (एनपीसीएससीबी) या मिशन कर्मयोगी के तहत हाल ही में एक कैबिनेट सचिवालय समन्वय इकाई (सीएससीयू) की स्थापना की गई थी।
• मिशन कर्मयोगी योजना 2 सितंबर 2020 को शुरू की गई थी।

Former Gujarat governor and veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Om Prakash Kohli passed away on 20 February. He was 87.

• He held the responsibility of many posts including the President of Delhi Pradesh BJP.
• Apart from being a Rajya Sabha member, he was the 19th Governor of Gujarat from 2014 to 2019.
• He held the office of president thrice and represented Delhi in the Rajya Sabha.

गुजरात के पूर्व राज्यपाल और भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के दिग्गज नेता ओम प्रकाश कोहली का 20 फरवरी को निधन हो गया। वह 87 वर्ष के थे।

The Frozen Lake Marathon at Pangong Tso Lake in the Union Territory of Ladakh has been officially included in the Guinness Book of World Records as the Highest Frozen Lake Marathon for the first time.

Important Points:

• It was organised on 20 February at the world-famous Pangong Lake, situated at an altitude of 4,350 metres above sea level.
• The Frozen Lake Marathon is being organised for the first time in the country and is considered to be one of the toughest because of the high altitude and cold.
• The theme of this marathon is 'The Last Run' and it is organised with the aim of creating awareness about climate change in Ladakh and promoting border tourism.
• It was organised under the Vibrant Village Program to accelerate the pace of development in border villages.

केंद्रशासित प्रदेश लद्दाख की पैंगोंग झील में फ्रोजन लेक मैराथन को पहली बार आधिकारिक तौर पर गिनीज बुक ऑफ वर्ल्‍ड रिकार्ड्स में सबसे ऊंची फ्रोजन लेक मैराथन के रूप में शामिल किया गया है।

महत्वपूर्ण बिंदु:

• समुद्र तल से चार हजार 350 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित विश्‍व प्रसिद्ध पैंगोंग झील पर इसका आयोजन 20 फरवरी को किया गया था।
• फ्रोजन लेक मैराथन देश में पहली बार आयोजित की जा रही है और इसे अधिक ऊंचाई और ठंड के कारण सबसे कठिन माना जाता है।
• इस मैराथन का विषय 'द लास्ट रन' है और यह लद्दाख में जलवायु परिवर्तन के बारे में लोगों को जागरूक करने और सीमा पर्यटन को बढ़ावा देने के उद्देश्य से आयोजित की जाती है। 
• यह सीमावर्ती गांवों में विकास की गति को तेज करने के लिए जीवंत ग्राम कार्यक्रम के तहत आयोजित की गई।

India and Singapore on 21 February launched a joint digital payment mechanism to enable residents of both countries to make easier and faster cross-border transactions. 

Important Points:

• The facility was jointly launched by Shaktikanta Das, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and Ravi Menon, Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
• India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Singapore's PayNow have entered into an agreement in this regard to facilitate these transactions.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong participated in the virtual launch of Real Time Payment Linkage.
• This will add a new chapter in fintech connectivity. Now people can make cost effective and fast money transfers from their mobile phones.

भारत और सिंगापुर ने 21 फरवरी को दोनों देशों के निवासियों को आसान और सीमा पार लेनदेन करने में सक्षम बनाने के लिए एक संयुक्त डिजिटल भुगतान तंत्र आरंभ किया है।

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक के गवर्नर शक्तिकांत दास और सिंगापुर के मौद्रिक प्राधिकरण के प्रबंध निदेशक रवि मेनन ने संयुक्त रूप से इस सुविधा का शुभारंभ किया।
• भारत के यूनिफाइड पेमेंट्स इंटरफेस (UPI) और सिंगापुर के PayNow ने इन लेनदेन को सुविधाजनक बनाने के लिए इस संबंध में एक समझौता किया है।
• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी और सिंगापुर के प्रधानमंत्री ली सियन लूंग ने रियल टाइम पेमेंट लिंकेज के वर्चुअल लॉन्च में हिस्सा लिया।
• यह फिनटेक कनेक्टिविटी में एक नया अध्याय जोड़ेगा। अब लोग अपने मोबाइल फोन से लागत प्रभावी और तेजी से पैसे ट्रांसफर कर सकते हैं।

International Mother Language Day is observed by UNESCO on 21 February to spread awareness about linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism. This day has been organised worldwide by UNESCO since the year 2000.

Important Points:

• The theme for 2023 International Mother Language Day is “Multilingual Education – a necessity to transform education”.
• This theme is in line with recommendations made during the Transforming Education Summit, where emphasis was also placed on the education and languages of indigenous peoples.
• The suggestion to celebrate 21 February as International Mother Language Day was made by Rafiqul Islam, a Bangladeshi living in Canada.
• He proposed this date to remember the 1952 killings in Dhaka during the Bangla language movement.
