The4th edition of the joint military exercisebetween India and Japan,"X Dharma Guardians"will be conducted from 17 February to 2 March 2023 atCamp Imazu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan.

Important Point:

• Soldiers from theGarhwal Rifles Regiment of the Indian Armyand an infantry regiment from theJapan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF)are participating in the exercise this year.
• The training will mainly focus on high level of physical fitness and sharing of exercises at tactical level.

• It is an annual joint military exercise conducted between India and Japan since 2018.

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Chemicals, and Fertilisers, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the IFFCO Nano Urea Liquid Plantsat Aonla and Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh on 14 February.

Important Points:

• Nano Urea will ensure the progress of the farmers in times to come, increasing their income. It is the best green technology and provides a solution to pollution.
• It has been developed in place of conventional urea and has the potential to reduce the requirement of conventional urea by at least 50 percent.
• One 500 ml bottle contains 40,000 mg/l nitrogen, which can provide nitrogen nutrients equivalent to one bag/sack of normal urea.
• The effectiveness of Nano Urea Liquid is more than 80%.
• Its use has been found to increase the yield by about 8%.
• Its aim is to reduce farmers’ dependence on packaged urea.

TheSecurity Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited(SPMCIL) andthe Energy Resources Institute(TERI) have signed an MoU with an estimated cost of Rs 525.49 lakh for the integrated development ofvillage  Model.

Important Point:

• This MoU has been entered into under the CSR initiative of SPMCIL for the development of Model Village - Sirolia, District Dewas, Madhya Pradesh.
• The Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) is a Mini Ratna, Category-I CPSE, wholly owned by the Government of India.

Union Ministry of Culture organized the first G20 Culture Group (CWG) meeting in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh from 22 to 25 February 2023.

Important Point:

• 'Protection and restitution of cultural heritage' will be the theme for the first G20 Culture Group (CWG) meeting. 
• An exhibition titled 'Re(ed) Dress: Return of Treasures' will also be organised on this theme at the Maharaja Chhatrasal Convention Center in Khajuraho.
• The second and third meetings under this track will be held at Bhubaneswar in Odisha and Hampi in Karnataka.
• India's cultural richness and diversity will be "prominently showcased" at the G2O meetings.
• The overarching theme of G20 is ‘Vasudev Kutumbakam’ – One Earth, One Family, One Future.’

The Union Cabinet on 15 February approved the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between India and South Africa for cooperation in the 'disability sector'.

Important Points-

• It aims to encourage cooperation between the Department for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and South Africa through joint initiatives in the disability sector.
• It will strengthen bilateral relations between India and South Africa.
• This MoU will benefit a large number of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in both the countries, especially those who are in need of modern, scientific, durable, low cost aids and assistive devices.

India and Fiji signed a Memorandum of Understanding on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders on 16 February in presence of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

Important Point:

• Under this agreement, holders of diplomatic and official passports will be able to enter, transit and stay in each other's territory without a visa for a period of 90 days.
• India and Fiji have inaugurated the solarisation of the State House in Suva and this is the first of a series that India is supporting in the Pacific Islands.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez on February 15 agreed to collaborate on issues such as digital infrastructure, climate action, clean energy and sustainable development.

• To give impetus to trade and investment ties, the India-Spain Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation (JCEC) was established in 1972.
• Spain is India's 7th largest trading partner in the European Union. Spain is the 15th largest investor in India.

The Union Cabinet on 15 February 2023 approved the construction of the 4.1-km Shinkun La tunnel on the Nimu-Padam-Darcha road link to provide all-weather connectivity to the border areas of Ladakh.

Important Points:

• The tunnel will be ready by December 2025 at a cost of Rs 1,681 crore.
• The Shinku-La tunnel will be constructed at the Shinku La pass on the border of Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.
• It connects the Zanskar valley of Leh-Ladakh to Lahaul in Himachal Pradesh.
• It will be built by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) under Project Yojkar.
• Another tunnel in the region, the Zojila tunnel, is also under construction on the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh National Highway.

केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने 15 फरवरी 2023 को लद्दाख के सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों को सभी मौसम में संपर्क प्रदान करने के लिए निमू-पदम-दारचा रोड लिंक पर 4.1 किलोमीटर लंबी शिंकुन ला सुरंग के निर्माण को मंजूरी दे दी है।

Bollywood actor Javed Khan Amrohi passed away due to lung failure at a Mumbai hospital on 14 February.

Important Point:

• Javed Khan last worked in the year 2020 in Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur starrer film 'Sadak 2'.
• He started his career in 1973 with the film 'Jalte Badan'.
• Apart from this, he worked in many best films like Satyam-Shivam-Sundaram, Prem Bandhan, Jhootha Kahin Ka, Prem Rog, Pasand Apni-Apni, Ram Teri Ganga Maili.
• Javed Khan was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2001 for the film 'Lagaan'.

In the 10th Indian Open Race Walking Championship 2023 held at  Morabadi (Ranchi), Jharkhand on 14 February,  Akshdeep  Singh and  Priyanka  Goswami  won the titles of men and women respectively.

• With this win, both the athletes have qualified for the Budapest 2023 World Championships and the Paris 2024 Olympics.
• In the 10th Indian Open Race Walking Championship 2023, Suraj Panwar and Vikas Singh finished second and third respectively in the men's section but failed to qualify.

With an aim to upgrade its fleet and expand its operations, Tata-owned Air India on 14 February confirmed an agreement to buy a total of 470 wide-body and narrow-body planes from Airbus and Boeing.

• Of the 470 new aircraft ordered by Air India, 250 are from Airbus (France) and 220 from Boeing (US).
• The Indian aviation sector will need more than 2,000 aircrafts in the next 15 years. 
• Under the regional connectivity scheme-UDAN, the number of airports in the country has increased from 74 to 147 in the last eight years.

• Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) was launched in 2016 as a Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
• Its objective is to provide affordable, economically viable and profitable air travel on regional routes to the common man even in small towns.

The first Agriculture Representatives Meeting (ADM) of the Agriculture Working Group (AWG) under the G20 chairmanship of India was held in Indore. Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia launched it on 14 February 2023.
