According to the Union Finance Ministry, the government will set up 'Bima Sugam Portal' to address the current security gap in the general insurance business.

Important Point:

• The portal will address the existing protection gap across life, health and general insurance businesses in the country.
• According to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, the portal will be the infrastructure of an insurance market where insurers, distribution networks and policy holders will meet virtually on a seamless digital platform.
• The portal is expected to improve the accessibility and ease of purchasing insurance for policyholders.
• It will also serve as a readymade digital platform for insurers and distribution networks.

केन्द्रीय वित्त मंत्रालय के अनुसार सरकार सामान्य बीमा व्यवसाय में मौजूदा सुरक्षा अंतर को दूर करने के लिए ‘बीमा सुगम पोर्टल’ स्थापित करेगी।

Minister of State for Finance Dr. Bhagwat Karad informed in the Lok Sabha on February 13 that till January 27, 2023, about 39 crore loans have been given under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.

Important Point:

• Out of this, more than 26 crore loans have been given to women entrepreneurs and about 20 crore loans to SC, ST and OBC borrowers.
• The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (launched on 8 April 2015) has helped in creating one crore 12 lakh net additional jobs in the country from 2015 to 2018.
• Under this scheme, three types of loans Shishu (up to 50,000), Kishore (more than 50,000 and less than 5 lakh) and Tarun (5 lakh to 10 lakh rupees) are given to the people of the country to start their own small business.

वित्त राज्य मंत्री डॉ. भागवत कराड ने 13 फरवरी को लोकसभा में जानकारी दी कि 27 जनवरी 2023 तक प्रधानमंत्री मुद्रा योजना के तहत लगभग 39 करोड़ ऋण दिए जा चुके हैं.

• इसमें से 26 करोड़ से अधिक ऋण महिला उद्यमियों को और लगभग 20 करोड़ ऋण अनुसूचित जाति, अनुसूचित जनजाति और अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग के उधारकर्ताओं को दिए गए हैं। 
• प्रधानमंत्री मुद्रा योजना (शुरुआत 8 अप्रैल 2015) से 2015 से 2018 तक देश में एक करोड़ 12 लाख निवल अतिरिक्त रोजगार सृजित करने में मदद मिली है।
• इस योजना के तहत देश के लोगों को स्वंय का छोटा व्यवसाय आरंभ करने के लिए तीन प्रकार के लोन शिशु (50,000 तक), किशोर (50,000 से अधिक और 5 लाख से कम) और तरुण (5 लाख से 10 लाख रुपये) दिए जाते हैं।

World Radio Day is celebrated every year on 13 February across the world. In the year 2023, the 12th edition of World Radio Day was celebrated with the theme 'Radio and Peace'.

• The day is observed every year to raise awareness among the public and media about the importance of radio and to encourage access to information through radio.

As part of India's chairmanship of the G20, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) organised the first Digital Economy Working Group meeting in Lucknow on February 13-15.

• This year, three defined areas namely Digital Public Infrastructure, Cyber Security and Digital Skilling were discussed with representatives from all 20 countries.
• The Digital Economy Working Group was first introduced at the G20 in 2017.

Global Digital Economy 

• The global digital economy is currently estimated at US$11 trillion and is expected to reach US$23 trillion by 2025.
• Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) plays a critical role in shaping the global policy discourse in the digital space.

Maharashtra topped the medal tally by winning 161 medals including 56 gold. While Haryana stood second with 128 medals including 41 gold.
