World’s largest motorcycle manufacturer company Honda has announced that it will introduce ethanol-only motorcycles in India in the year 2025.

• The Japanese company is the first company in the world to introduce a bike powered by an eco-friendly fuel mixed with bio-ethanol and petrol. It was first introduced in Brazil in March 2022.

IMPORTANT FACTS -

Ethanol fuel based Bike:  

• Initially Honda will introduce E 20 fuel bikes having a fuel content of 20 percent ethanol mixed with petrol in 2023.
• It will introduce an E100 fuel bike having a fuel content of 100 percent ethanol in 2025.

Biofuels in India: 

• Bio fuel is the fuel obtained by mixing hydrocarbon based fuel with agricultural produce. In India, Ethanol obtained from molasses (produced during the production of sugar from sugarcane) is mixed with Petrol.

Target set by government of India:  

Under the national Biofuel policy 2018 as amended in 2022, the government of India has set a target of:

• 10% blending of petrol with ethanol by 2022.
• 20% blending of petrol with ethanol by 2025-26.
• 10% blending of ethanol with diesel or biodiesel by 2030.

The Union Ministry of Defence which is responsible for organising the Republic Day ceremony in New Delhi has proposed three specific themes for 2023 Republic Day Parade tableaux.

• In a letter from the defence ministry, various state governments, Central ministries and departments have been invited to participate in the Republic Day Parade on January 26 by creating a tableaux choosing any of these three themes or a combination of the three.

Shoonya initiative :

• NITI Aayog and Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) and RMI India launched the Shoonya Campaign in September 2021.
• It promotes zero-pollution delivery vehicles by working with consumers and industry. 
• The campaign aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the urban delivery segment and create consumer awareness about the benefits of zero-pollution.
• Urban freight vehicles account for 10 percent of freight-related carbon dioxide emissions in India, and these emissions are expected to increase to 114 percent by 2030.

A joint venture of the Indian conglomerate Vedanta and Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Gujarat government on 13 September to set up a semiconductor and display manufacturing unit in the state.

• Vedanta-Foxconn will invest Rs 1,54,000 crore to set up the facility in Gujarat, which will create one lakh jobs.
• This is the largest ever corporate investment in the history of independent India.
• This MoU is an important step towards accelerating semiconductor manufacturing in India.
• It will also create a vast ecosystem for ancillary industries and help MSMEs.
• Semiconductor chips used in cars, mobile phones and other electronics devices are not currently manufactured in India.

• 91-year-old Venugopal was appointed as the 15th Attorney General of the country on June 30, 2017, replacing Mukul Rohatgi.

• Rohatgi was the Attorney General for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government between 2014 and 2017.

The British Virgin Islands' based VPN service company released its Digital Quality of Life (DQL) Index 2022 on 12 September which included 110 countries.

• Denmark topped the index for the second year in a row while the five worst-ranked countries are Ethiopia, Cambodia, Cameroon, Guatemala and Angola.
• Of the ten countries with the highest scores in the index, six are European countries.

• Internet affordability - It measures how much time people have to spend to buy an internet connection. India has ranked 47th on this parameter.
• Internet quality - The survey measures the speed and stability of mobile and broadband internet connectivity in a country. The report places India at 67th rank.
• Electronic infrastructure - The survey measures the development and inclusion of electronic infrastructure in a country. India ranks 91st on this parameter.
• Electronic security - This parameter assesses how prepared a country is to combat cyber crimes and protect one's online privacy. India is on the 36th spot on this parameter.

The Health Ministry has released a new National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM), in which 384 medicines have been included.

What is National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM)?

• Essential medicines are those that meet the primary health care needs on the basis of efficacy, safety, quality and total cost of treatment.
• The primary objective of NLEM is to promote rational use of drugs considering three important aspects viz., cost, safety and efficacy.
• It is based on the concept that a limited list of carefully selected drugs will improve the quality of health care, provide cost-effective health care and better manage medicines.

As per the Ministry of External Affairs, India will chair the G20 meeting for one year starting from December 1, 2022 to November 20, 2023.

• A total of 200 G20 meetings are likely to be held under the chairmanship of India.

Satellite Internet provider Hughes Communications India (HCI) on 12 September, 2022 announced the commercial launch of India's first high-throughput satellite (HTS) broadband service operated by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in the form of Elon Musk-run SpaceX.

INS Satpura and a P8 I Maritime Patrol Aircraft of the Indian Navy reached Darwin in Australia for participation in multinational Exercise Kakadu-22, hosted by the Royal Australian Navy.

India and Vietnam held their 2nd security dialogue on 13 September 2022 in New Delhi and discussed ways to enhance maritime security cooperation. The first Security Dialogue was held in Hanoi in 2018.

The Union Ministry of Finance on 13 September 2022 has set up a committee to suggest ways to attract venture capital and private equity (VC/PE) investments in India. 

IMPORTANT FACTS-

• The Committee will be headed by the former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), M Damodaran.
• The Finance minister in her Budget speech for the fiscal year 2022-23 had stated that the government was considering forming a committee that will encourage Private Equity and Venture Capital investment in India.
• According to the Ministry the committee will "comprehensively study, using a systems approach, the end-to-end frictions and potential accelerants from regulatory policy and taxation to facilitate ease of investing, as well as to encourage investments in India".

The Ministry of External Affairs on 13 September 2022, said that India will invite a number of friendly countries and International Organisation to the G-20 summit as Guest countries being hosted by India on 09 and 10 September 2023 in New Delhi.

Guest Countries:  

• India will invite Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and UAE as Guest Countries. 

International Organisations to be invited:  

• India will invite the United Nations, International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, World Health Organisation (WHO), World Trade Organization (WTO), International labour organization (ILO),Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Financial Stability Board (FSB), Head of African Union, International Solar Alliance, Association of South-east Asian Nation (ASEAN), African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) CDRI (Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure) and ADB (Asian Development Bank).

13 सितंबर 2022 को विदेश मंत्रालय ने कहा कि 09 और 10 सितंबर 2023 को नई दिल्ली में भारत द्वारा आयोजित जी-20 शिखर सम्मेलन की बैठक में अतिथि देशों के रूप में जी-20 शिखर सम्मेलन में कई मित्र देशों और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संगठनों को आमंत्रित करेगा।

अतिथि देश: 

• भारत, अतिथि देशों के रूप में बांग्लादेश, मिस्र, मॉरीशस, नीदरलैंड, नाइजीरिया, ओमान, सिंगापुर, स्पेन और संयुक्त अरब अमीरात को आमंत्रित करेगा।

आमंत्रित किए जाने वाले अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संगठन: 

• भारत संयुक्त राष्ट्र, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष (आईएमएफ),, विश्व बैंक, विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ), विश्व व्यापार संगठन (डब्ल्यूटीओ), अंतर्राष्ट्रीय श्रम संगठन (आईएलओ), आर्थिक सहयोग और विकास संगठन (ओईसीडी),, वित्तीय स्थिरता बोर्ड , अफ्रीकी संघ के प्रमुख, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सौर गठबंधन, दक्षिण पूर्व एशियाई राष्ट्र संघ (आसियान), अफ्रीकी संघ विकास एजेंसी,  सीडीआरआई (आपदा लचीला बुनियादी ढांचे के लिए गठबंधन) और एडीबी  (एशियाई विकास बैंक) को आमंत्रित करेगा।

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman released the book “Recalibrate: Changing Paradigm” authored by the 15th Finance Commission Chairman N K Singh and Former Agricultural Secretary P K Mishra in New Delhi on 13 September 2022.

The book has been published by Rupa and Co.

एनके सिंह के बारे में

नंद किशोर सिंह (एनके सिंह) एक पूर्व भारतीय प्रशासनिक अधिकारी हैं।

वे 15वें वित्त आयोग के अध्यक्ष थे।

According to the Ministry of Defence the sixth edition of Japan India Maritime Exercise 2022 (JIMEX 22) hosted by the Indian Navy commenced in the Bay of Bengal on 11 Sep 2022. 

IMPORTANT FACTS-

• The Japanese Navy which is officially called as Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) is being represented by Naval ships Izumo, a Helicopter Carrier, and Takanami, a Guided Missile Destroyer.
• The Indian Navy is being represented by three indigenously designed and built warships; Sahyadri, a multi-purpose stealth frigate and Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvettes Kadmatt and Kavaratti. 
• Additionally, Guided Missile Destroyer Ranvijay, Fleet Tanker Jyoti, Offshore Patrol Vessel Sukanya, submarines, MIG 29K fighter aircraft, Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft and ship borne helicopters are also participating in the exercise.
• JIMEX 22 involves two Phases; exercises at sea and a harbour phase at Visakhapatnam.
• The 5th edition of JIMEX -21 was held in Arabian Sea from 6 to 8 October.

रक्षा मंत्रालय के अनुसार भारतीय नौसेना द्वारा आयोजित जापान इंडिया मैरीटाइम एक्सरसाइज 2022 (जिमेक्स 22) का छठा संस्करण 11 सितंबर 2022 को बंगाल की खाड़ी में शुरू हुआ।

महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य-

• जापानी नौसेना जिसे आधिकारिक तौर पर मैरीटाइम सेल्फ डिफेंस फोर्स (जेएमएसडीएफ) कहा जाता है, का प्रतिनिधित्व नौसेना के जहाजों इज़ुमो, एक हेलीकॉप्टर कैरियर और ताकानामी, एक गाइडेड मिसाइल डिस्ट्रॉयर द्वारा किया जा रहा है।
• भारतीय नौसेना का प्रतिनिधित्व तीन स्वदेशी रूप से डिजाइन और निर्मित वॉरशिप द्वारा किया जा रहा है। ये हैं बहुउद्देश्यीय स्टील्थ फ्रिगेट 'सह्याद्रि' और पनडुब्बी रोधी युद्धपोत 'कदमत' और 'कवरत्ती'। इसके अतिरिक्त, गाइडेड मिसाइल डेस्ट्रोयर रणविजय, फ्लीट टैंकर ज्योति, अपतटीय गश्ती पोत सुकन्या, पनडुब्बी, एमआईजी29के लड़ाकू विमान, लंबी दूरी की समुद्री गश्ती विमान और जहाज से चलने वाले हेलीकॉप्टर भी अभ्यास में भाग ले रहे हैं।
• जिमेक्स22 में दो चरण शामिल हैं- समुद्र में अभ्यास और विशाखापत्तनम में बंदरगाह चरण।
• जिमेक्स-21 का 5वां संस्करण 6 से 8 अक्टूबर तक अरब सागर में आयोजित किया गया था।
