15-Year-Old Mayank Chakraborty Wins Second Grand Master Norm in Greece

Mayank Chakravarty, a 15-year-old International Master (IM) from Assam, won his second Grand Master (GM) norm at the GM Norm tournament held in Greece on September 1.

An Overview of the News

  • Mayank now needs one more norm and must achieve a FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Échecs) Rating of 2500 to become a Grand Master, potentially becoming the first GM from North East India. His current FIDE rating is 2431.

  • Mayank became an International Master in April this year.
