15-Year-Old Mayank Chakraborty Wins Second Grand Master Norm in Greece

Mayank Chakravarty, a 15-year-old International Master (IM) from Assam, won his second Grand Master (GM) norm at the GM Norm tournament held in Greece on September 1.
An Overview of the News
Mayank now needs one more norm and must achieve a FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Échecs) Rating of 2500 to become a Grand Master, potentially becoming the first GM from North East India. His current FIDE rating is 2431.
Mayank became an International Master in April this year.
He currently holds the highest number of GM Norms and the highest rating among players from North East India.
Sahil Dey, 17 years old, is the second player from North East India still vying to become the first Grand Master from the region, with one GM Norm and a current FIDE rating of 2375.
