1. Sumangalam Panchmahabhoot National Youth Conference on ‘Vayu: The Vital Life Force’ starts in Bhubaneshwar

The second conference in the Sumangalam Panchmahabhoot series, titled ‘Vayu – The vital life force’ started at the Siksha O Anusandhan University, Bhubaneswar, and Odisha on 2 December 2022. The first conference in the Sumangalam Panchmahabhoot series ‘Akash for Life’ was held in Dehradun in November 2022.
The Conference will be formally inaugurated by the Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal and the Union Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav at Bhubaneswar on 3 December 2022.
The conference in Bhubaneswar is being organized by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, along with Central Pollution Control Board from 2 -4 December 2022.
The Conference is focused on varied air quality issues ranging from scientific discussions on climate change and pollution control to enriching our understanding on air quality from ancient scriptures and texts.
Sumangalam Panchmahabhoot
The Government of India is organizing a campaign “Sumangalam'' across the country for finding solutions to the environmental issues with an Indian perspective based on traditional knowledge .
In a blend of the modern and the traditional knowledge, the government of India is going to organise five national conventions across the country on the Panchmahabhoot- the five elements for solving environmental issues for the betterment of society. In the traditional knowledge system the human body or the universe is made of Panchmahabhoot. It consists of Aakash, Vaayu Jal, Prithvi and Agni.
2. ‘Swar Dharohar Festival’ to showcase Indian culture starts at the India Gate in New Delhi

The “Swar Dharohar Festival” a music, arts and literature festival to showcase the iconic art and culture of India started at the Central Vista, India Gate, New Delhi on 2 December 2022.
The “Swar Dharohar Festival” is being organized by the Union Ministry of Culture with the ‘Swar Dharohar Foundation’ from 2 -4 December 2022.
Swar Dharohar festival was inaugurated today by Chief Guest Mehtab Ali (Sitar Player) and Pt. Lalit Prasad (Classical Vocal). On the first day Classical Performance, Ghazal, Kavi Sammelan, Mushaira, Sufi Performance were organised.
Swar Dharohar foundation was founded by a group of young artists in 2006, with an aim of creating a safe space and a global platform for young and talented artist while at the same time popularising Indian Art, Music and its Heritage.
3. 2022 Navy Day to be celebrated at Visakhapatnam

The Indian Navy will hold its annual Navy Day celebration 2022 at Visakhapatnam as per the Prime Minister's vision to move significant events and festivities out of the national capital.
The Indian Air Force Day which is observed on 8 October was held for the first time outside Delhi in Chandigarh. The Indian Army has also announced that the Next Army Day parade 2023 will be held outside New Delhi in the Army’s Southern Command area on 15 January 2023.
The Navy Day which is observed on 4 December every year is usually held in New Delhi in presence of the Commander in Chief, President of India.
This year for the first time it will be held outside New Delhi. This year the Indian Navy is all set to demonstrate India’s combat prowess and capability through an ‘Operational Demonstration’ at Visakhapatnam on 04 December 2022.
Navy Day is observed on 4 December to commemorate Operation Trident of the Indian Navy launched on 4 December 1971 to block the Karachi port of Pakistan and cripple its war effort against India. It was a highly successful mission.

4. Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane inaugurates the first Coastal Security Conference in Chennai

Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane inaugurated the first Coastal Security Conference organised by the Indian Coast Guard under the aegis of Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) at Chennai on 1 December 2022. Director General, Indian Coast Guard V S Pathania was also present at the occasion.
Defence Secretary called upon the member countries to take concerted measures to counter transnational crimes and address identified areas to make the seas safer.
The two day (1-2 December) conference is being attended by India, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Mauritius.
Theme of the conference: Collaborative Efforts for Coastal Security.
A range of issues including coastal security threat, collaborative response, international maritime law and role of empowered agencies, technological solutions for coastal security etc were discussed at the conference.
Colombo Security Conclave (CSC)
The CSC started as a trilateral maritime cooperation mechanism between India, Maldives and Sri Lanka in 2011. The membership of the Group was enlarged with the addition of Mauritius in March 2022.
The Secretariat of the CSC is located in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The members have identified five pillars for cooperation, namely-
- Maritime Safety and Security;
- Countering Terrorism and Radicalization;
- Combating Trafficking and Organised Crime;
- Cyber Security, Protection of Critical Infrastructure and Technology and
- Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.
5. 12th edition of Agni Warrior exercise between Indian and Singapore Armed Forces Concludes at Devlali

The 12th edition of the bilateral Agni Warrior Exercise between the Indian and the Singapore Army concluded at Field Firing Ranges, Devlali (Maharashtra) on 30 November 2022.
The exercise which commenced on 13 November 2022 involved showcasing joint firepower planning, execution and use of New Generation Equipment by the Artillery arm of both armies.
Exercise also included participation by both sides in a joint computer war-game as part of joint planning process.
6. G-20 Finance Ministers meeting to be held in Bengaluru in February 2023: Nirmala Sithraman

The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that Bengaluru, Karnataka will host a meeting of G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors in February 2023. India assumed the Presidency of the G-20 on 1 December 2022.
She announced this at the Vananam Startup Inclusivity Summit in Bengaluru.
Mr Sitharaman has asked the Start-ups to utilise this event to showcase their profile to the visiting international guests. The Finance Minister said, different cities in India have been selected to host G-20-related meetings next year.

8. 17th International Conference on Cement, Concrete and Building Materials to be held in New Delhi

The National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB), under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, will organize the 17th International Conference on Cement, Concrete and Building Materials.
The biennial Conference will be held in New Delhi from 6-9 December 2022.

9. Union Agriculture minister attends the 2nd Sustainable Agriculture Summit & Awards held in New Delhi

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar was the chief guest of the 2nd Sustainable Agriculture Summit & Awards organised by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) in New Delhi on 30 November 20222.

10. External Affairs Ministry to organize the International Lusophone Festival in Goa from 03-06 December 2022

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in partnership with Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Government of Goa is organizing the International Lusophone Festival in Goa from 03-06 December 2022.
The International Lusophone Festival will be inaugurated on 03 December 2022 by Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa and Smt Meenakashi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Minister of State for Culture would be the Guest of Honour.
What is Lusophone World?
The Lusophone world are countries that speak Portuguese as their official language and were colonized by Portugal. With 300 million speakers, Portuguese is the sixth most spoken language on the planet.
The Portuguese speaking countries set up the ‘Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP)’, in 1996.
The member countries of the CPLP are Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, Timor Leste and Equatorial Guinea.
India joined CPLP as an associate observer in July 2021. As part of India’s engagement with CPLP, the Ministry of External Affairs celebrated the World Portuguese Language Day in Delhi on 05 May 2022, soon after joining CPLP.
Goa was also a colony of Portugal and it was liberated by the Indian government in 1961 through an action of the armed forces code named Operation Vijay.
