Dr Jha was born in Madhubani in Bihar and was the Dean of the Brown University School of Public Health.
2. Sri Lankan finance minister Basil Rajapakse visit to India

The Sri Lankan finance minister Basil Rajapakse visited India on 16 and 17th March 2022. It was his second visit to India after his December 2021 visit.
Sri Lanka is facing a severe economic crisis and Sri Lanka wants economic assistance from India. India has already provided a $500-million line of credit for purchasing fuel and a currency swap of $400 million.

3. N Chandrashekran appointed Air India Chairman

Tata Sons chairman ,Natrajan Chandrasekaran has been appointed as the chairman of Air India by the Tata group on 14 March 2022.
However no decision was taken on the appointment of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) for Air India.
The Tata group had previously announced Turkey's Ilker Ayci as the chief executive of Air India, but that appointment was met with a lot of opposition in India and finally Ilker Ayci declined the offer.
Tata Sons is a holding company and promoter of more than 100 Tata group of companies like Tata Motors, TCS, Tata Steel, Titan etc.

4. Debashish Panda appointed as the new Chairman of IRDAI

The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Debashsish Panda as the new chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India .
He has been appointed for a term of three years .
Debashish Panda earlier retired as the Secretary of the Department of Financial Services , Union Ministry of Finance.
The post of IRDAI chairman has been vacant since May 5, after Subhash C Khuntia stepped down on completion of his term.

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) was set up under the Insurance Development Authority Act 1999 by the Government of India in 1999.
It was set up on the recommendation of R.N Malhotra Committee on Insurance sector , set up by the Government of India in 1993.
It is the regulator of the Insurance sector in India .

5. First person to receive pig heart transplant dies

David Bennet, the first person in the world to receive a genetically modified pig's heart died at the University of Maryland Medical Center, United States of America. He was an American.
He was the first person in the world to successfully receive a genetically modified animal organ.

6. Sreesanth retires from cricket

Controversial Indian fast swing bowler S. Sreesanth has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. He was from Kerala.
He was a member of the world cup winning Indian cricket team of the T20 world cup and the 2011 ODI world cup team led by Mahendra singh Dhoni.
He played his first international cricket match against Sri Lanka in 2006 at Nagpur .
The 39-year-old played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is for India, picking up 87, 75 and seven wickets respectively.
He was banned for life for his alleged role in IPL spot fixing and also had to go to jail for it. He was later cleared of the charges by the court.
7. IC-814 hijacker Zahoor Ibrahim killed

One of the five hijackers of the Indian Airline flight IC-814,Mistry Zahoor Ibrahim alias Jamali was killed by unidentified gunmen on 1 March 2022 in Karachi, Pakistan.
He was the last three surviving members of the Pakistani based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed who hijacked the Indian Airlines flight IC-814 on 24 December 1999. The flight took off from Tribhuvan Airport Kathmandu, Nepal to New Delhi before it was hijacked and finally taken to Kandhar, Afghanistan.
Afghanistan was ruled by Talibans which provided support to the terrorist. One of the passengers of the plane, Rupen Katyal was killed by Zahoor Ibrahim on the plane.
The cirisis was resolved when the government of India had to free three notorious terrorist Maulana Massod Azhar,Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar and Ahmed Omar Seikh in exchange for the passengers of the hijacked plane.
Of the five hijackers, the surviving hijackers are Ibrahim Azhar the brother of Maulana Azhar and Rauf Asghar.
8. Virat Kohli 100th Test Match

Virat Kohli became the 12th Indian test player to play 100 or more cricket test matches for India. His 100th test match was against Sri Lanka which is being played at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium Mohali, Chandigarh,from 4-8 March 2022.
The first Indian to play 100 test matches was Sunil Gavaksar .
The other players who have played 100 or more test matches are Sachin Tendular, Rahul Dravid, VVS Lakshman , Kapil Dev, Virendra Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Ishant Sharma, Suarav Ganguly.
Sachin Tendular holds the world record for maximum test appearance of 200.
9. Rodney Marsh passed away

Former Australian cricket greats and one of the finest wicket keepers of all time ,Rodney Marsh died after a heart attack in Australia.He was 74 years of age .
He was the first Australian wicketkeeper to score a Test century.
10. Shane warne passed away

Australian leg spinner and one of the greats of the game of cricket died of a suspected heart attack in Thailand on 4 March 2022. He was 52 years of age.
Warne was staying on the island of Koh Samui, around 600km south of Bangkok in the Gulf of Thailand.
He played international cricket for Australia from 1992 and 2007. He played his first test against India in 1992 . He took 708 test match wickets. In 194 One Day International matches he took 293 wickets .
He was the second highest wicket taker in test matches after Muttiah Muralidhran of Sri Lanka’s 800.
He played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Rajasthan Royals team . He was the captain of the side and led them to the title championship in the inaugural IPL 2008 championship.
He was selected as one of the five Wisden cricketers of the century after Don Bardman, Sir Garfield Sobers, Sir Jack Hobbes and the fifth one was Vivian Richards.
