3. Gujarat will host the 36th National Games in September, 2022

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced that the 36th National Games will be held in Gujarat for the first time from 27 September to 10 October.
Important facts
The prestigious event is being organised after a gap of seven years, last held in Kerala in 2015.
Competitions will be held in six cities of the state namely Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.
Around 7000 players from across the country will participate in 36 sports.
Indoor and outdoor events like Athletics, Hockey, Football, Volleyball, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Judo, Kushmi, Kabaddi and Kho-Kho etc. will be organised.
The 36th National Games were to be held in Goa in May 2020 but were postponed indefinitely due to the spread of COVID-19.

Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur launched an online portal for schemes, awards for sportspersons on 8th July.
Important facts
The ministry launched an online portal for schemes of the sports department, website of National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) and revised scheme of cash rewards, national welfare and pension for sportspersons.
Active sports persons can now apply online on the sports department's portal while corporates, PSUs and individuals can contribute to the NSDF fund on its new website.
This will help in bringing transparency and accountability, besides giving a boost to the 'Digital India Mission' of the government.
This will help the players to apply online and get their money in limited time.
National Sports Development Fund (NSDF)
Established in 1998 under the Charitable Endowments Act, 1890
Its purpose is to provide speed and flexibility in assisting sports.
The fund helps sportspersons achieve excellence by providing them technical as well as opportunities to be trained by coaches of international repute.
It provides financial assistance for development of infrastructure and other activities to promote sports.
The fund is managed by a council constituted by the central government.

6. India's women's wrestling team has won the Under-17 Asian Championship title

India's women's wrestling team has won the Under-17 Asian Championship title in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
India topped with 235 points with eight gold, one silver and one bronze medals.
Japan finished second with 143 points and Mongolia third with 138 points.
