The third edition of the Interpol Young Global Police Leaders Program has been launched in New Delhi with the theme 'Trust'.

  • The Young Global Police Leaders Program will be conducted from 25 January to 2 February 2023. In which 60 participants from 44 countries are participating.

  • The major objective of this program is to build trust among the public-police as well as international police forces.

  • It is being organised by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

  • The event brings together Young Police Leaders to do important work in their respective countries and helps them develop an international perspective and understanding.

International Criminal Police Organisation/Interpol

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the National Summit on Quality of Biologicals, organised by the National Institute of Biologicals (NIB), in New Delhi on 27 January.

  • The summit will act as a platform to bring together stakeholders, regulatory authorities and academia for dialogue on various aspects of the quality of biologicals.

  • The conclave will lead to capacity building, technology enhancement and new organic growth towards realising the government's dream of 'Healthy India'.

  • The Health Minister stressed the need to initiate studies using state-of-the-art analytical platforms to promote development of pharmacopoeial monographs for new biologicals made with updated technologies.

  • The summit will help in upgrading the infrastructure and technologies of the country's biopharmaceuticals and in-vitro diagnostic industry.

  • Mandaviya has emphasised on making treatment more affordable for the common man through these initiatives.

  • A coffee table book was also released by the dignitaries at the event.

National Institute of Biologicals (NIB)

  • It is an apex autonomous institute under the administrative control of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

  • It undertakes quality control evaluation of various biological products such as vaccines, blood products, blood reagents, sera, immuno-diagnostic kits etc.

3. National Child Science Congress begins in Ahmedabad

The 30th National Child Science Congress began at Science City in Ahmedabad on 27 January.

  • It was inaugurated by Vijay Nahera, Secretary, Gujarat Science and Technology Department.

  • The Gujarat Council on Science and Technology, Gujarat Council of Science City, and SAL Education are hosting the five-day Congress, which will conclude on January 31.

  • More than 1400 delegates including child scientists, escort teachers, evaluators and government officials will participate in it.

  • More than 850 students from across the country will be showcasing their unique projects at the Congress.

National Children Science Congress

4. First India Stack Developer Conference

6. The first meeting of the Youth 20 Group will be held in Guwahati in February 2023

The first meeting of the Youth 20 group as part of the G20 summit will be held in Guwahati from February 6 to 8, 2023.

An overview of the news

  • The Youth 20 (Y20) Summit is being hosted by India for the first time on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.

  • This is the first of several meetings to be held in India on five Youth20 themes in the run-up to the Youth-20 Summit.

  • The meeting will focus on five themes of the Future of Work – climate change and disaster risk reduction, peacebuilding and reconciliation, democracy and youth in health, well-being and sport.

  • Its objective is to find out the thinking of the youth and incorporate their suggestions in the policy proposals. It is an attempt to create a channel of contact between G20 governments and their local youth.

  • To engage Youth20 in a participatory and inclusive deliberative process, more than 50 universities/colleges from 34 districts of Assam will organise seminars, workshops, debates and panel discussions in their campuses from January 19 till the Foundation Meet.

7. State DGPs and IGPs annual Conference

The three-day conference of heads of all state police forces and paramilitary organisations began in New Delhi on January 20.

  • PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval addressed the conference.

  • Cyber security, war on drugs, and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir were among the top agenda items of the conference.

  • Apart from this, border management, cross-border threats and maritime security were also discussed in the annual meeting.

  • Other issues discussed included threat from Khalistani extremists, threat to economy, cryptocurrency, Maoist violence and Northeast insurgency.

  • Around 350 top police officers of the country in the rank of Director General (DG) and Inspector General (IG) attended the conference. 

About the conference

  • Till 2013, the annual meet was held in the national capital, in 2014, when the Modi government came to power, it was decided to hold the event outside Delhi.

  • In 2014, the conference was held at Guwahati, Rann of Kutch in 2015, National Police Academy, Hyderabad in 2016, BSF Academy, Tekanpur in 2017 and Pune in 2019.

  • Due to the Covid epidemic, in 2020 it was held virtually while in 2021 the conference was held in Lucknow.

8. G20's First Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group (ECSWG) Meeting to be held in Bengaluru

9. Union Ministry of Tourism participates in FITUR, the world's largest International Travel Exhibition in Madrid
