2. Saudi Arabia to host 2027 Asian Cup football tournament

3. Two national youth records set in athletics events at Khelo India Youth Games

Two national youth records were set in athletics events at the Khelo India Youth Games in Madhya Pradesh on 5 February at the T T Nagar stadium in Bhopal.

Delhi's Sonam set a new record in 200m steeplechase with a timing of 6.45.71 minutes.
On the other hand, Siddharth Chaudhary of Rajasthan created a new record of 21.04 meters in shot put.
The previous national record in men's youth shot put was set by Dipender Dabas in 2017 when he threw at 20.99 meter.
Madhya Pradesh won the overall championship in athletics in the boys category and Maharashtra in the girls category.
Maharashtra topped the medal table with 79 medals including 26 gold.
Haryana is second with a total of 53 medals including 22 gold and host Madhya Pradesh is third with 21 gold medals.
Madhya Pradesh also has a total of 53 medals.
4. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur Launches Khelo India Winter Games Mascot, Theme Song

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur along with the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha on 4 February launched the Mascot, Theme Song and Jersey for the 3rd edition of Khelo India Winter Games at Raj Bhawan, Jammu.

The Khelo India Winter Games is a part of the Khelo India campaign, a vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to encourage youth towards sports and make India an emerging soft sports power on the global stage.
The third edition of Khelo India Winter Games is scheduled to be held from February 10 to 14 and is supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
It is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council as well as the Winter Games Association of Jammu and Kashmir.
About one thousand 500 athletes from all over the country will participate in these games.
Snowshoe race, ice skating, ice hockey, skiing, Nordic ski, snowboarding, ski mountaineering and ice stock are the main attractions during the 5-day mega event.
There will be nine sporting events in the Winter Games.
The first edition of the Khelo India Winter Games took place in 2020 and hosts Jammu and Kashmir have topped both the editions of the Games so far.
5. Indian men's hockey team chief coach Graham Reid resigns

Indian men's hockey team head coach Graham Reid on January 30 resigned from his post following the host nation's exit from the recently concluded World Cup.

The 58-year-old Australian coach submitted his resignation to Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey a day after the World Cup concluded in Bhubaneswar, where Germany emerged as champions after beating Belgium in a penalty shoot-out.
Reid, who was appointed India's coach in April 2019, led the team to a historic bronze medal win at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
After taking over as the head coach of the Indian men's hockey team in 2019, Graham Reid went on to coach the team to a historic bronze medal win at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
After this, under his leadership, the Indian men's hockey team was successful in winning the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022 held in Birmingham and India finished third in the FIH Pro League 2021-22.
In addition to Reid, analytical coach Greg Clark and scientific advisor Mitchell David Pemberton also tendered their resignations.
6. 5th Khelo India Youth Games begins in Madhya Pradesh

The fifth edition of Khelo India Youth Games 2022 began on January 30 in Madhya Pradesh.

Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated this sports event at TT Nagar Stadium in Bhopal.
Union Minister of State for Sports Nisith Pramanik and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Singer Shaan performed at the opening ceremony. Shaan sang the theme song of Khelo India Youth Games. Singer Neeti Mohan performed on Narmada Ashtak.
A group of 100 folk artistes along with drummer Shivamani performed on Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
Khelo India Youth Games
The Games will be hosted in Madhya Pradesh from 31 January 2023 to 11 February 2023.
For the first time water sports namely Kayaking Canoeing, Canoe Salaam and Fencing will be part of this edition of Khelo India Games.
It will be organised in eight different cities of the state.
The eight host cities designated are Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Maheshwar, Mandla and Balaghat.
More than 8 thousand 500 athletes and sportspersons are expected to participate in this sporting event.
The 4th Khelo India Youth Games was held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula (Haryana) from 4 to 13 June, 2022 while some matches were also played in Chandigarh.

7. INDIA won Inaugural Women's U -19 T20 World Cup

8. Hockey World Cup: Germany beat Belgium 5-4 in shootout to lift World Cup trophy for the third time

Germany has won the Men's Hockey World Title 2023. Germany defeated defending champions Belgium 5-4 in a shootout in the final played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on 29 January.

With this, Germany has won the World Cup three times, first in 2002 and second in 2006.
In a thrilling final, the two teams were tied 3-3 after regular time, but the Germans then won 5-4 in penalty shootout at the Kalinga Stadium.
Nicklas Wellen (29th), Gonzalo Peillat (41st) and captain Mats Grembusch (48th) scored for Germany.
Florent van Obel (10th minute), Tengas Kossins (11th minute) and Tom Boon (59th minute) scored for Belgium.
Germany had earlier won the quarter-finals against England and the semi-finals against Australia after coming from two goals down.
Germany also took their world title tally to three, equaling Australia and the Netherlands.
The record of winning the most titles in the Men's Hockey World Cup is recorded in the name of Pakistan, who have won this title four times.
