1. Haryana launched 'Fodder-Sowing Scheme'

The fodder sowing scheme has been started for the farmers of the state by Jai Prakash Dalal, Minister of Agriculture, Government of Haryana.

  • IMPORTANT FACTS -

  • This scheme has been launched with the objective of providing financial assistance of Rs.10,000 per acre to the farmers who provide and supply fodder to Gaushalas.

  • Under Direct Benefit Transfer the subsidy will be deposited directly into the account of the farmer.

  • The objective of this scheme is to cover the shortage of fodder and increasing stray cattle in the state.

  • Under the scheme -

  • Phosphate-rich organic manure (PROM) prepared from cow dung can be used as an alternative to synthetic fertilisers. PROM is also prepared from various Gaushalas in Pinjore, Hisar and Bhiwani districts of Haryana.

  • The state government is taking many steps in the interest of the farmers and the 'Four Seeding Scheme' is another step in the same direction. In April, Rs 13.44 crore was distributed to buy fodder in 569 gaushalas in the state.

2. Ujjwala scheme : 90 lakh beneficiaries did not refill the cylinder

In the last financial year, 90 lakh beneficiaries of flagship welfare scheme Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana did not refill their cylinders.

  •  Along with this, there are about 1 crore beneficiaries who have filled the cylinder only once in a year after taking LPG connection.

  • About the PM Ujjwala Yojana

  • It is a central government scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016.

  • The aim of the scheme was to provide Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) connections to five crore women of below poverty line (BPL) households in the first phase.

  • In the second phase, a target has been set to provide LPG connections to eight crore women by March 2020.

  • Under this scheme financial assistance of Rs 1600 is provided to BPL families for each LPG connection.

  • The scheme was expanded in April 2018 to include women beneficiaries from seven more categories (SC/ST, PMAY, AAY, Most backward classes, tea garden, forest dwellers, Islands).

  • Ujjwala Scheme 2.0

  • It aims to provide maximum benefits to migrants who live in other states and find it difficult to furnish address proof.

3. Over 18 crore Ayushman Cards issued under AB-PMJAY so far

According to the Health Ministry under Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB- PMJAY), more than 18 crore Ayushman cards have been issued so far.

  • This scheme has been implemented to provide health cover to the people.

  • This scheme has proved to be a boon for the poor people.

  • More than 3 crore 20 lakh people have availed the hospital facilities under the scheme.

  • About Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana ( AB- PMJAY)

  • launched in 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

  • It has two components Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs).

  • Ayushman Bharat is the largest government funded healthcare program in the world.

  • It offers a sum insured of Rs5 lakh per family for secondary care as well as tertiary care.

  • Under the scheme cashless and paperless access to services are provided to the beneficiaries.

  • It is an entitlement-based scheme that targets the beneficiaries identified by the latest Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) data.

  • Funds for the scheme are shared between the Center and the states in a 60:40 ratio for all states.

4. PM-WANI based public WiFi scheme launched at 100 railway stations

RailTel, a Mini Ratna PSU, has launched Prime Minister Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) scheme across 100 railway stations in the country.

  • This public-friendly service was launched by RailTel chairman and managing director Puneet Chawla on 9 May. 

  • To access this WiFi network, Android users can download the mobile app 'Wi-Dot' available on Google Play Store.

  • This app is developed in collaboration with C-DOT.

  • This method is in addition to the existing method of accessing WiFi at these stations through the conventional method of selecting RailWire Service Set Identifier (SSID). 

  • RailTel's WiFi network is now spread across 6,102 railway stations across the country and has 17,792 WiFi hotspots.

  • About PM-WANI  Scheme

  • PM-WANI is an ambitious program of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to connect all silo Wi-Fi networks for ease of use and increase broadband usage for the public.

  • The main objective of this scheme is to provide Wi-Fi facilities at all public places.

  • The government plans to extend PM-Vani-based reach of RailTel's public Wi-Fi services to all 6,102 railway stations in a phased manner by the end of June 2022.

  • Through this scheme now every citizen of the whole country can be connected to the internet.

5. PMJJBY, PMSBY, and APY complete seven years of providing social security net

Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) completed seven years of providing social security on 9 May.

  • All these three schemes were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 9th May 2015 in Kolkata, West Bengal. 

  • These schemes have been successful in providing affordable insurance and security to the people.

  • These three social security schemes are dedicated to the welfare of citizens, recognizing the need to secure human life from unforeseen risks or losses and financial uncertainties.

  • Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)

  • It is a one year life insurance plan which is renewed year after year

  • It provides coverage for death due to any reason.

  • Persons in the age group of 18-50 years having a savings bank or post office account are eligible to enrol under this scheme.

  • Life cover of Rs 2 lakh in case of death due to any reason with a premium of Rs 330 per annum.

  • As on 27 april 2022, the cumulative enrolments under the scheme have been more than 12.76 crore and an amount of Rs 11,522 crore has been paid for 5,76,121 claims.

  • Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)

  • It is a one year accident insurance plan which is renewed year after year.

  • It provides coverage for death or disability due to accidents.

  • Persons in the age group of 18-70 years having a savings bank or post office account are eligible to enrol under this scheme.

  • Accidental death cum disability cover of Rs 2 lakh (Rs 1 lakh in case of partial disability) for death or disability due to accident.

  • As on 27 april 2022, the cumulative enrolments under the scheme have been more than 28.37 crore and an amount of Rs 1,930 crore has been paid for 97,227 claims.

  • Atal Pension Yojana (APY)

  • It is open to all bank account holders in the age group of 18 to 40 years and the contribution varies depending on the pension amount chosen.

  • After joining the scheme, the subscribers will get a minimum monthly pension of Rs 1000 or Rs 2000 or Rs 3000 or Rs 4000 or Rs 5000 at the age of 60 years depending on the contribution made by the subscriber.

  • More than 4 crore persons have subscribed to this scheme till 27th April 2022.

6. Telangana govt extends insurance coverage to handloom & power loom weavers under ‘Nethanna Bima’ scheme

Telangana State Government has announced the extension of insurance coverage for handloom and power loom weavers under the 'Nethanna Bima' (Weaver's Insurance) scheme.

  • The Telangana government has issued orders to increase the insurance coverage for weavers to Rs 5 lakh under the insurance scheme.

  • Under the Scheme

  • More than Rs 29 crore have been sanctioned for implementing the scheme during this year. The cabinet sub-committee had proposed to cover more than 55 thousand handloom and powerloom and allied weavers in the state.

  • The insurance coverage will be extended to weavers in the age group of 18 to 59 years. The insurance benefit will be given to the family on the death of the weaver or ancillary worker. This scheme is likely to start in June 2022.

7. Mukhyamantri Mitan Yojana 2022

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has launched 'Mukhyamantri Mitan Yojana', which will be implemented on a pilot basis in 14 municipal corporations including cities like Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur and Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh.

  • Through this scheme, all government services such as citizen's caste certificate, residence certificate, ration card, etc. documents will be delivered directly to the homes of citizens by the government.

  • Under the Mukhyamantri Mitan Yojana, assistant friends will be deployed by the government. Who will go to the house of the people and complete all the formalities.

  • An initial provision of Rs 10 crore has been made by the government for the operation of this scheme.

  • To get the benefit of this scheme, citizens have to contact a helpline number 14545.

8. Jeevala scheme for prisoners

The Prisons Department of the Government of Maharashtra has launched a first of its kind credit scheme called 'Jeevala' for prisoners lodged in jails across the state.

  • The loan scheme called 'Jivhala' has been introduced by the Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank for prisoners who are serving jail terms for more than three years.

  • The pilot project of this scheme was presented at Yerwada Central Jail in Pune.

  • This scheme will be extended to around 60 jails by the Maharashtra government.

  • The loan from this scheme can be used by the prisoners for the education of their children, medical treatment of family members, legal fees or other expenses.

9. Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme

The government will review the norms of the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) program, which is envisaged to support 100 companies involved in product design in the semiconductor space, as part of the Rs 76,000 crore plan for development of the electronic chip ecosystem in the country.

  • About Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme

  • This was announced by MeitY in December 2021.

  • Aims - to provide financial and infrastructural support to companies setting up fabs or semiconductor making plants in India.

  • The scheme is expected to provide a globally competitive incentive package to companies in semiconductor and display manufacturing as well as design.

  • Chip Design infrastructure support,The Product Design Linked Incentive,The Deployment Linked Incentive are the components of the scheme.

10. Linkage of e-Shram portal with the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana

Discussions are going on to link the e-Shram portal with the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.

The government is working on a mechanism to process accident insurance claims by unorganised workers registered on the e-shram portal, which has seen over 27 crore registrations so far.

  • In the Budget Speech 2022-2023, the Finance Minister had announced the linking of four portals - National Career Service, e-Shram, Udyami (for those interested in starting MSMEs) and Aseem (Atmanirbhar Skilled Employer Employer Mapping).

  • The inter-linking of the NCS and e-Shram portals had been completed recently.

  • So far more than 26,000 e-shram beneficiaries have registered on NCS and are benefiting from this linkage.

  • About e-Shram portal-

  • The Ministry of Labor and Employment has developed an eSHRAM portal to create a national database of unorganised workers.

  • It was launched in 2021.

  • Its aim is to welfare of workers in the unorganised sector who are not members of the EPFO or ESIC.

  • Registered members will be eligible for a range of benefits after signing up for Shramik Yojana and getting the e-Shram Card.

  • This will allow workers to receive Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) through e-Shramik Unique ID Number.
