1. Odisha's public transport service, 'Mo Bus', gets prestigious United Nations Public Service Award

The Capital Region Urban Transport Authority of Odisha launched the 'Mo Bus Service' in November 2018 to promote smart technologies and promote safe transport for women riders.
Which has recently been awarded the United Nations Public Service Award for 2022.
'Mo Bus' has been awarded the prestigious United Nations Prize for its role and efforts in helping the world recover from COVID-19.
'Mo Bus' incorporates "real-time technologies such as live tracking, travel planner and e-ticketing".
Ten initiatives from Brazil, Canada, India, Ireland, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Ukraine recognized for their innovative public service delivery by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs with the prestigious United Nations Public Service Awards has been given.

2. National Logistics Excellence Awards 2022

The Government of India hosted the first National Logistics Excellence Awards in New Delhi in which Adani Logistics Limited was awarded in the category “Best Rail Freight Service Provider”.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal presented the awards in 12 categories.
With an aim to focus on the logistics sector, the Government of India had announced the launch of National Logistics Excellence Awards in the year 2021.
The awards focused on best practices including process standardisation, technology improvement, digital transformation and sustainable processes.
Indian Logistics Sector
The Indian logistics sector is growing at a CAGR of 10.5 per cent to reach around $215 billion in the year 2020.
The overall cost of logistics accounts for about 14 percent of India's GDP, which is much higher than the global average of 8 per cent.

3. Central Government launches National Awards Portal for nomination of various awards

The Central Government has launched the National Awards Portal to invite nominations for various awards from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies to ensure transparency and public participation.
This portal has been developed by the government to bring all the awards together under a single digital platform.
The portal aims to facilitate citizens to nominate individuals and organisations for various awards instituted by the Government of India.
Currently nominations and recommendations for Padma awards are open till 15th September this year for Sardar Patel National Integration Award, nominations will be open till 31st of July.
Nomination for Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award will remain open till the 16th of June.
nomination for Jeevan Raksha Padak series of Awards will be open till 30th September 2022.
Anyone can nominate for the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Skill Excellence Award till June 16.
4. Tamil Nadu tops food safety index
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Union Health Ministry has released the State Food Safety Index 2021-2022.
Tamil Nadu topped the State Food Safety Index this year.

New Eat Right India initiatives launched
Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya launched various innovative initiatives by FSSAI including Eat Right Research Awards and Grants Phase II, Eat Right Creativity Challenge Phase III, a competition at school level.
He unveiled the logo for the Ayurveda diet, which includes the initials of Ayurveda and Ahara, with 5 leaves symbolizing the five elements of nature.
About State Food Safety Index
The index is developed by FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India).
It was started in 2018-19.
Its aim is to create a competitive and positive change in India’s food safety ecosystem.
It measures the performance of states on five significant parameters of Food Safety.
These parameters are - Human Resources and Institutional Data, Compliance, Food Testing – Infrastructure and Surveillance, Training & Capacity Building and Consumer Empowerment.

5. International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2022

The 22nd International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) was held from 3 - 4 June at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi.
This year the IIFA 2022 Awards were hosted by Salman Khan, Maniesh Paul and Riteish Deshmukh.

Renowned author Geetanjali Shree has been awarded the prestigious International Booker Prize 2022 for her novel 'Tomb of Sand'.
Geetanjali has become the first Indian author to win the Sri International Booker Prize.
'Tomb of Sand' has become the first book in any Indian language to win the prestigious International Booker Prize.
This book was originally published in Hindi language as 'Ret Samadhi'. English translation of 'Tomb of Sand' by American translator Daisy Rockwell.
The book "Tomb of Sand" is published in the UK by Tilted Axis Press.
Who is Geetanjali Shree
Geetanjali Shree is originally from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh. Gitanjali Shree has written three novels and several collections of stories.
Among his other major novels are Purohit, Hamara Shahar Us Baras, Empty Space, Anugoonj etc.
Synopsis of the novel 'Tomb of Sand'
The novel tells the story of an 80-year-old elderly widow who loses her husband after the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947.
About International Booker Prize
The International Booker Prize is awarded annually to a translation of a novel published in the UK or Ireland.
The Booker Prize was established in 1969 by the Booker Mcconnell Company of England.
Under this, the amount of 50 thousand pounds i.e. 44 lakh rupees received is divided between the translator and the writer.

8. The Queen of Britain presented Ajay Piramal with an Honorary British Award

Ajay Gopikishan Piramal, chairman of the Piramal Group, has been awarded the Honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by the Queen of Britain.
Ajay Piramal has received this honour as India Co-Chair of the UK-India CEO Forum for the services rendered towards UK-India business relations.
He has worked tirelessly to further strengthen the people-to-people ties between the two countries through his investments in the UK life sciences ecosystem.
As co-chair of the UK-India CEOs Forum, he has also contributed to the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) meeting in London in 2019, the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in 2018 and the UK Prime Minister's visit to India in 2016.
Piramal has also helped in finalising the policy on labour mobility, setting up a fast-track mechanism for Indian investments in the UK and issues related to corporate tax in India.

9. Anna Kabale Duba won the Global Nursing Award 2022

Kenya's Anna Kabale Duba was honoured with the Aster Guardian Global Nursing Award 2022 at an award ceremony held in Dubai.
Out of 24,000 nurses, 10 were selected as the top 10 finalists, of whom Anna Kabale Duba won the award.
What did She do under the Qabale Duba Foundation?
A school has been built by him in his village under the Qabale Duba Foundation.
This school was built so that children can study in the morning and adults can read in the afternoon.
More than 100 adults and 150 children are participating in this community literacy programme.
Who is Anna Kabale Duba ?
She is the first graduate of her village. She also won the title of Miss Tourism Kenya 2013 while studying Nursing.
She has advocated for education and gender equality in her community.
Global Nursing Awards -
The award was launched on 12th May 2021, International Nurses Day.
The Aster Guardian Global Nursing Award was instituted by Aster DM Healthcare with an aim to recognize the phenomenal contribution of nurses to humanity.
The winner of this award receives a prize money of $250,000.
10. Mamata Banerjee awarded the 'Bangla Akademi Award' for her "tireless literary pursuit"

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was awarded the 'Bangla Akademi Award' for her "tireless literary pursuit".
The award was presented to Banerjee for her book "Kabita Bitan", which pays tribute to the best writers of West Bengal.
This book is a collection of 946 poems written by Mamta Banerjee.
Banerjee was given this award at the "Ravi Pranam" function organised by the Information and Culture Department of the government on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
Mamata Banerjee herself did not accept the award and received it on her behalf by state education minister Bratya Basu.
Bangla Akademi has decided to reward those who work tirelessly for the betterment of literature as well as other sectors of the society from this year itself.
