1. Odisha CM launches Olympic Values Education Programme

International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s Olympic Value Education Program (OVEP) was launched by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in association with Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust (ABFT).
With the aim of making children active, healthy and responsible citizens, the curriculum related to the Olympics was included in the school education system.
The initial target of the program is to reach 32,000 children enrolled in 90 schools in the cities of Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. After this it will be spread to about 70 lakh school children of the state.
Odisha's Department of School and Mass Education and Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust have jointly prepared this program included in the school curriculum.

2. Former Australia cricketer Andrew Symonds dies in road accident

46-year-old former Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds has died in a car accident.
The Symonds car accident happened in Townsville, Queensland.
Symonds, who was the best all-rounder player in world cricket, played the first international match of his career against Pakistan in November 1998.
Symonds made his Test debut in March 2004 against Sri Lanka.
Andrew Symonds was a key part of Australia's 50-over World Cup victories in 2003 and 2007.
Symonds is also remembered for the infamous "Monkeygate" scandal.

He has scored 5088 runs in 198 matches in ODIs and has also taken 133 wickets during this period.
Symonds played 26 matches in his Test career in which he scored 1462 runs and also took 24 wickets.
Symonds scored 11099 runs in 424 List A matches and also took 282 wickets.
3. Lionel Messi named Forbes highest-paid athlete 2022

According to Forbes, football star Lionel Messi topped the list with a net worth of $130 million (Rs 1007 crore).
Messi earned $75 million from sports and $55 million from sponsorship deals, out of a total of $130 million (Rs 1394 crore).
Basketball player, LeBron James is at the second position with USD 121.2 million, while Cristiano Ronaldo is at the third position in the list with USD 115 million.
Estimates are calculated by Forbes based on prize money, salary and bonuses and sponsorship deals.
Virat Kohli is the only Indian player in this list who earned around Rs 262 crore last year, out of which Rs 22 crore has been earned from salary and the rest 240 crore from advertisements.

4. Mascot, Logo, Jersey, Theme Song launched for Khelo India Youth Games-2022

Recently, the logo, song, jersey and mascot of Khelo India Youth Games-2022 were launched by the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur in Panchkula, Haryana.
The mascot of Khelo India Youth Games-2022 will be in the form of a cow, which has been named 'Dhakad'.
About Khelo India Youth Games 2022
The fourth Khelo India Youth Games will be organised from June 4 to 13 at Tau Devilal Stadium in Panchkula, while some of its matches will also be held in Chandigarh.
For the first time, five traditional sports have been included in the fourth Khelo India Youth Games. These games include Gatka, Kalaripayattu, Thang-Ta, Malkhamb and Yoga.
Among them, Gatka, Kalaripayattu and Thang-Ta are traditional martial arts, while Mallakhamb and Yoga are fitness related sports.
This time the biggest ever contingent of 8500 players from across the country will participate in this event.
This time Khelo India Youth Games is being jointly organised by Haryana Government and Sports Authority of India (SAI), Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
This competition was started in 2018 in New Delhi under the name Khelo India School Games.

The Ice Hockey World Championship 2023 was to be played in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The International Ice Hockey Federation has taken this decision due to concerns about the well-being of players and officials following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The next host for the World Championships will be selected during the 2022 IIHF Annual Congress in Tampere, Finland.

6. Kiran George and Anupama wins the Mens and Womens Title at the Polish Badminton Challenge

Indian shuttlers Kiran George and Anupama Upadhyaya won the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively at the Polish Open International Challenge badminton tournament in Arłamow, Poland.
George retained the title after defeating Chia Hao Lee of Chinese Taipei while Upadhyaya prevailed over fellow Indian Aditi Bhatt
For George, it was his second title of the season, following his triumph at the Odisha Open Super 100 tournament in January. He had also made it to the Indian team for the Asian badminton team championships in February.
In the women's singles, the 17-year-old Upadhyaya also claimed her second international title following her triumph at the Infosys Foundation International challenge last year.

9. West Indies secure test series win against England

West Indies men’s cricket team completed a ten-wicket win on the fourth day of the third Test in Grenada, National Cricket Stadium to secure a series win (1-0) over England. With this England ends its tour of the West Indies.
The first match was played at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua and the second match was played at Kensington Oval, Barbados. Both the matches ended in a draw.
With this West Indies won the first edition of the Richards–Botham Trophy.

10. P V Sindhu wins and Prannoy loses Swiss Open

Ace Indian shuttler and double Olympic medalist, P V Sindhu grabbed the 2022 Swiss Open title with a straight-game win over Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan (21-16, 21-8) in the summit clash of the Swiss Open Super 300 badminton tournament at the St. Jakobshalle Arena in Basel, Switzerland.
In this same venue, Sindhu claimed the World Championships gold in 2019.
This is her second title of the year—she won the Syed Modi India International in Lucknow in January 2022.
Sindhu is the second Indian woman to win the Swiss Open, Saina Nehwal having won it in 2011 and 2012.
