1. Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated IBA Women's World Boxing Championships

The IBA Women's World Boxing Championships began on 15 March in New Delhi.

  • Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated it at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex.

Karnataka won the Santosh Trophy for the first time in 54 years after sealing a commanding 3-2 win over Meghalaya in the final at the King Fahd International Stadium in the Saudi Arabia capital, Riyadh on 5 March.

  • This is the first trophy for Karnataka, having previously won four times as the princely state of Mysore after a gap of 54 years (after 1968–69).

  • Meghalaya's team reached the finals of this competition for the first time.

  • But Meghalaya equalized in the eighth minute through a penalty.
