4. Arun Subramanian becomes first Indian-American to be Judge of Manhattan Federal District Court in New York

The United States Senate has confirmed the appointment of Indian-American Arun Subramanian as the District Judge for the Southern District of New York.

Ram Chandra Paudel got votes by 214 MPs of Parliament and 352 Members of Provincial Assemblies.

6. Former Malaysian PM Muhyiddin Yassin arrested on corruption charges

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on 9 March arrested former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin on the charges of corruption.

Muhyiddin, who was Malaysia's prime minister for 17 months between 2020 and 2021, has been charged under laws related to abuse of power and money laundering.
He and his party have faced a corruption investigation after losing the November election to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Prime Minister Ibrahim last year ordered a review of billions of dollars of government projects approved by Muhyiddin, including Covid-19 relief programmes, alleging that he did not follow proper procedures.
Muhyiddin, who is also chairman of Barsatu, a major opposition party in Malaysia's ruling coalition, would be the second former prime minister to be indicted.
Another former Malaysian prime minister, Najib Razak, is also serving a 12-year prison sentence for corruption.

8. Colonel Geeta Rana became the first woman officer to command a field workshop

Colonel Geeta Rana of the Indian Army's Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers has become the first woman officer of the Indian Army to command a field workshop on the forward front in eastern Ladakh.

Ms. Rana is currently a Colonel in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME).
The Indian Army has also approved women officers to take up the role of commanders.

9. Konrad Sangma became the Chief Minister of Meghalaya for the second time

Meghalaya has 60 assembly seats, but polling in the Sohyeong constituency was postponed following the death of UDP candidate HD R Lyngdoh. Shira, MLA from Resubelpara, was administered oath as the Speaker Pro-tem of the Assembly by Governor Fagu Chauhan.

A person who is not a member of the State Legislative Assembly can be appointed as the Chief Minister for six months. But he has to take the membership of the state assembly within the time limit, failing which he has to give up the post of chief minister.
10. Neiphiu Rio became the Chief Minister of Nagaland for the fifth time
