World Haemophilia Day is celebrated on April 17 every year.
The aim of the day is to increase awareness about haemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders.
World Haemophilia Day was started in 1989 by the World Federation of Haemophilia (WFH).
The day is celebrated in the honour of Frank Schnabel, founder of the World Federation of Haemophilia (WHF).
The theme of the year 2022 is 'Access to all'.
What Is Haemophilia?
–Haemophilia is a sex-linked recessive disease, in which a single cut in an affected individual will result in non-stop bleeding.
–A sex-linked disease is one which is passed down through families through one of the X or Y chromosomes, which are sex chromosomes.
–Sex-linked recessive diseases most often refer to X-linked recessive diseases.
2. International Water Week 2022

The Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2022 will be held from 17 to 21 April 2022 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore.
On behalf of India, Director General of National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) G. Ashok Kumar participated in water week.
A presentation was made by India on 'Status of Wastewater generation, Treatment and Management in India: Success through NMCG Initiatives'.
Kumar spoke in the Hot Issue Workshop hosted by NMCG on 17th April on ‘Sustainable Wastewater Management in Developing Countries: An Innovative Indian Approach in River Rejuvenation’ under theme 3 of the Water Convention.

3. World Chagas disease day

To focus attention on the threat of Chagas disease, the World Health Organisation started celebrating 14 April as World Chagas Disease Day from the year 2020.
Chagas disease or American trypanosomiasis is a potentially life-threatening disease caused by the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi.
It is also known as "silent disease". It is mainly found in poor people who have less access to health facilities or are deprived of it.
Theme of 2022: Finding and reporting every case to defeat Chagas disease.
Initially this disease was recorded in Latin America but now it is found in many parts of the world.

4. October 5 designated as National Dolphin Day

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shri Bhupendra Yadav informed that October 5th is designated as National Dolphin Day to be celebrated every year as a historic step in creating awareness for conservation of Dolphins
The decision was taken in the 67th meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Board for Wild Life.
In India, mostly Gangetic dolphins, a species of freshwater dolphins, are sighted in long deep river reaches in Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
Gangetic river dolphins were declared national aquatic species in 2010.
5. International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade

Every year, March 25 is observed as International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade. It was first observed in 2008.
Transatlantic slave trade refres to the 10 million to 12 million African men and women who captured in Africa and were transported by the Europeans as slave across the Atlantic ocean to the Americas from the 16th to the 19th century.

6. World Tuberculosis (TB) Day

Every year March 24 is observed as World Tuberculosis Day in the world.
On this day in 1882, Dr Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis that causes TB.
Theme of the World Tuberculosis Day 2022 : ‘Invest to End TB. Save Lives.
TB is an infectious disease which spreads through air and it affects the lungs.

German Physician Robert Koch, is considered to be the founder of modern bacteriology. He is known for his role in identifying the specific causative agents of tuberculosis, cholera, and anthrax and for giving experimental support for the concept of infectious disease.

India has the largest population of TB patients in the world. According to the World Health Organisation 26% of TB cases in the world in 2020 was reported from India .
The Indian Government has set a target to eliminate TB in India by 2025.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) include ending the TB epidemic by 2030 under Goal 3.
7. World Meteorological Day

Every year 23 March is observed as “World Meteorological Day”.
On 23 March 1950 the World Meteorological Organisation was founded by replacing the International Meteorological organisation.
It became a specialised agency of the United Nation in 1951 for meteorology (weather and climate), operational hydrology and related geophysical sciences. The World Meteorological organisation has 193 member countries and territories.

8. World Water Day

World Water day is celebrated every year on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.
The water day celebration started in 1993 after the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution in 1992.

9. World Poetry Day
