Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar released the Arabic Version of “Majma Ul-Bahrain” of Dara Shikoh in New Delhi on 9 September 2022.
IMPORTANT FACTS -
- The book has been translated into Arabic by Amar Hasan, and published by Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR).
- .The ‘Majma Ul-Bahrain (Confluence of Two Oceans) was written by Dara Shikoh in Persian in 1654-55. In the book he compared Sufi Islam and Vedantic philosophy and concluded that there was more commonalties between the two than difference.
- The Book was translated in Hindi as ‘Samudra Sangam Grantha.’
- Dara Shikoh was the eldest son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and was defeated by Aurangzeb in the succession struggle .He was later executed by Aurangzeb in 1659.

The Booker Prize was established in 1969 by the Booker Mcconnell Company of England.
