1. Kerala to host Track Asia Cup 2022

Track Asia Cup-2022, one of the premier cycling competitions, will be held at the LNCPE Outdoor Velodrome in Kerala from November 25 to 28.
Important facts
The event will see participation of over 200 cyclists from over 25 Asian countries and will be held outside Delhi for the first time in history.
It is authorised by the Asian Cycling Confederation and Cycling Federation of India.
The Track Asia Cup is also used to select Asian countries for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The highlight of the event will be the participation of cycling stalwarts from China, Japan, Korea and Kazakhstan.
Apart from these countries, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Indonesia will compete with India.
About Track Asia Cup 2022
It is a flagship event of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC).
It showcases excellent competitive cycling exhibitions across Asia.
Star cyclists including Olympic medalists will compete in various individual and team events.
Track Asia Cup 2022 will play a vital role in developing cycling as a major sporting event in the state.
This is probably the first time that a sporting event is being held in Kerala in which more than 20 countries are participating.
2. India’s Praggnanandhaa and Nandhidhaa wins the Asian Continental Chess championship

Top seeded Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa and P V Nandhidhaa won the titles in the Open and women’s sections respectively in the Asian Continental Chess championship held in New Delhi.
The Asian Continental Chess Championship was held in New Delhi from 26 October to 3 November 2022.
R Praggnanandhaa remained unbeaten in the tournament and has also qualified for the FIDE World Chess cup to be held in 2023.
The international chess governing body FIDE has not yet announced the date and place of the World Chess Cup 2023.
3. “Baji Rout National Football Tournament” inaugurated in Dhenkanal Odisha by Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the “Baji Rout National Football Tournament in Dhenkanal, Odisha on 3 November 2022.
Speaking on the occasion he said that to promote football in India the government with FIFA and All India Football Federation (AIFF) has launched the 'Football 4 School' initiative.
The minister revealed that the programme has been targeted to rope in about two crore fifty lakh school students towards football. He said that ten lakh footballs will be distributed among the government and private schools in all the districts of the country through the Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya.
4. Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy wins the French open Badminton men’s doubles title

The Birmingham Commonwealth gold medallist pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won the French Open Badminton 2022 men’s doubles title on 30 October 2022. It was also their first BWF Super 750 title.
The French open Badminton 2022 was held in Paris, France from 25-30 October 2022.
The Indian badminton pair defeated Chinese Taipei’s pair of Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han in the final on 30 October 2022.
This was also the first time since Partho Ganguli and Vikram Singh’s triumph in 1983 that an Indian men’s doubles pair won the French Open badminton title.
This was Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy’s fourth BWF World Tour title. They won the Hyderabad Open 2018, the Thailand Open 2019 and India Open 2022.
The win also makes Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy the first Indian doubles pair to clinch a BWF Super 750 crown.

5. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan signs MoU with FIFA and AIFF for implementing Football4Schools initiative in India

Union Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, on behalf of the Ministry of Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with world football governing body FIFA and All India Football Federation (AIFF) for the ‘Football4Schools’ initiative in India at Mumbai on 30 October 2022.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Youth Affairs & Sports Nisith Pramanik, President, All India Football Federation, Kalyan Chaubey were also present on the occasion.
The MoU was signed at the sidelines of the final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 being held in Mumbai, which was won by Spain.
The Minister said that football is an immensely popular sport and the Football4Schools program uses it as a positive tool to inspire children and ensure their holistic development. He further said that ‘Football4Schools’ aims to empower 2.5 crore young boys and girls in India through sports-integrated learning.
Football4 School initiative
The Football4 School initiative has been launched by FIFA with a $100 million budget in 2018. The initiative targets to reach over 700 million children across the world with special emphasis on reaching out to all the tribal communities of the world. Of the targeted children at least 50% of them will be girls.
The aim of the initiative is to educate children on various topics, not just about football, and to make them better citizens of their country.

6. Spain successfully defend its FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup title defeating Colombia in the final

The Spanish women won the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup title by defeating the Colombian team in the final held at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on 30 October 2022. Spain has now equalled the record of North Korea of winning the title twice.
Spain won the 6th U-17 Women’s World Cup 2018 held in Uruguay.
7th FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022
The 7th FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 was hosted by India for the first time from 11 to 30 October 2022. It was originally scheduled for 2020 but was then postponed due to COVID-19.
A total of 16 teams including Indian participated in the championship which was held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar (Odisha), the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao (Goa) and the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra).
FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup
- It is a biennial football tournament started by FIFA in 2008.
- It will be the second time that India hosts a FIFA tournament after the men's 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
- It is for the first time that India hosted a FIFA women's football tournament.

7. Sankar Muthusamy settles for a silver medal at the BWF World Junior Championships 2022

S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian had to settle for a silver medal at the 22nd World Junior Badminton Championships 2022 after losing in the men’s singles final in Santander, Spain on 30 October 2022. In the final he lost to Chinese Taipei’s Kuo Kuan-lin.
The 22nd BWF World Junior Badminton Championships 2022 was held at Santander in Spain from 17-30 October 2022.Players under 19 years of age participates in the tournament.
Medals for India in the championships
India has won an overall 10 medals at the Junior World Badminton Championship.
It has won one gold, four silvers and five bronze medals at the event .
Saina Nehwal is the sole Indian player to have won a gold medal at the championship. She won the gold medal in the 2008 World Junior Championship held at Pune, India.
The last medal for India was won by Lakshya Sen in 2018 when he won the Bronze medal.

8. India wins Sultan of Johor Cup for the third time beating Australia in a penalty shoot out

The Indian junior men’s hockey team held their nerves to win the penalty shootout against the Australian team to win its 3rd Sultan of Johor Hockey cup title, at the final match played at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on 29 October 2022. The 10th edition of the Sultan of Johar cup was held from 22-29 October 2022 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
In the final match India and Australia were tied 1-1 after regulation time. In the penalty shootout India won by 5-4 goals. Sudeep Chirmako (14’) scored the goal for India in regulation time.
India has now equalled the record of Great Britain having won it three times. India has won the titles in 2013 and 2014. The Indian hockey team reached the final of the last edition in 2019 as well but lost 2-1 to Great Britain.
Indian player Sharda Nand Tiwari was the top goal scorer of the tournament with 7 goals and the player of the final was Sudeep Chirmako.

Sultan of Johar Cup
The Sultan of Johar cup is a u-21 men’s International Hockey championship held annually in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The cup was started in 2011 and the 2022 edition was the 10th edition of the tournament.
It was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to covid.
India and Great Britain have won it 3 times each.
9. Aman Sherawat wins 1st ever gold for India in the U23 World Wrestling Championship

16 year old Aman Sehrawat made history as he became the first ever Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at the U-23 World Wrestling Championships. The U-23 World Wrestling Championships was held in Pontevedra, Spain from 17 -23 October 2022.
Aman Sehrawat defeated Ahmet Duman of Turkey in the final to win the gold medal.
The U-23 World Wrestling Championships was held in Pontevedra, Spain from 17 -23 October 2022.
Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia and Ravi Kumar Dahiya had made the final in their categories in previous editions but could only win the silver medal.
Aman Sehrawat won gold at the U23 Asian championship and silver at the U20 Asian championship earlier this year.
India finished with six medals - one gold, one silver and four bronze at the U-23 World Wrestling Championships 2022.

10. Western Air Command of IAF wins Air Force Lawn Tennis Championship

Western Air Command, Indian Air Force (IAF) won the Air Force Lawn Tennis Championship 2022-23 held at Head Quarter MC, Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur on 21 October.
Important facts
The final match of the team championship was played between Western Air Command and Training Command in which Western Air Command emerged as the winner.
The Open Singles final was played between Corporal Pradeep of Training Command and Sergeant Manolin of Western Air Command and Corporal Pradeep emerged as the winner.
The championship was inaugurated by Air Marshal Vibhas Pandey, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Headquarters MC on 17 October 2022.
A total of eight teams comprising 48 players from seven commands of the Indian Air Force participated in the championship.
The championship was held in two events, the team championship and the open singles.
Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Air Marshal Vibhas Pandey was the chief guest during the closing ceremony of the championship on 21 October 2022.
