2. Nirmala Sitharaman urges IFC Managing Director Diop to increase Investment in India

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) Managing Director Makhtar Diop, who is on a visit to India met the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on 19 September 2022 in New Delhi.
In a series of tweets by the finance ministry, Sitharaman said that India expects an increase in IFC lending in India.
She said that India expects IFC to increase its lending to USD 2-2.5 billion in the next 1-2 years and further to USD 3-3.5 billion in next 3-4 years.

President Droupadi Murmu has cleared the appointments of Directors to eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on 20 September.

- IIT Bhilai’s Director Rajat Moona has been appointed as director of IIT Gandhinagar.
IIT Dharwad’s Director Pasumarthy Seshu has been appointed as director of IIT Goa.
The two IIT directors who have been reappointed for a second term, they are - K N Satyanarayana (IIT Tirupati) and Manoj Singh Gaur (IIT Jammu).
Seshadri Shekhar and Shripad Karmalkar, who are professors at IIT Madras, have been appointed as directors of IIT Palakkad and IIT Bhubaneswar respectively.
Venkayappaya R Desai from IIT Kharagpur's Department of Civil Engineering has been appointed as the Director of IIT Dhardwad.

5. Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong meets the Prime Minister Modi

The Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on 19 September 2022. He was accompanied by Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry Mr. Gan Kim Yong and the Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The leaders discussed ways to boost bilateral ties between India and Singapore, especially in emerging sectors like digital connectivity, green hydrogen, and Fintech.
Mr Lawrence is on his first visit to India from 17 -21 September 2022.
During his India visit he also participated in the first India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) held on 17 September in New Delhi with Nirmala Sitharaman. The ISMR is a new mechanism between the two countries to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.

7. Bajrang Punia wins Bronze medal at the 17th Wrestling World Championship 2022

The Tokyo Olympic Bronze medallist Bajrang Punia won a bronze medal at the 17th Wrestling World Championships 2022 by defeating Puerto Rico’s Sebastian Rivera in the men’s 65kg freestyle category on 18 September 2022.
The 17th Wrestling World Championships 2022 was held at Belgrade, Serbia from 10 -18 September 2022.
This was the fourth medal for Bajrang Punia in the Wrestling World Championships.
Earlier, he won bronze at Budapest (Hungary) 2013, silver at Budapest 2018 and bronze at Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) 2019.

9. Union Social Justice minister Virendra Kumar inaugurates Model District Disability Rehabilitation centers in the country

The Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar inaugurated model District Disability Rehabilitation centers (DDRC) across the country on 18 September 2022.
He virtually inaugurated 9 model DDRC in Badaun, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Balaghat, Golaghat, Ahmedabad, Amravati, Kullu and Rampur.
District Disability Rehabilitation centers (DDRC) have been set up across the country to provide effective rehabilitation services to the persons with disabilities. These centers are run jointly by District Management Team headed by DM/Collector and a reputed NGO (Usually Indian Red Cross Society).

- The government is upgrading these DDRC to model DDRC. In the model DDRC’s services like hearing aids test lab, speech therapy room, visual therapy room, psychologist room, physiotherapist room, gait practice parallel bar and tele-medicine/tele-therapy like facilities shall be available.
