Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix at Jeddah, the second round of the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship, after a thrilling battle with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
This is his first win of the season and the 21st win of his career.
He is the first Dutch motorist to win the Formula One (F1) motor car racing championship.

2. West Indies secure test series win against England

West Indies men’s cricket team completed a ten-wicket win on the fourth day of the third Test in Grenada, National Cricket Stadium to secure a series win (1-0) over England. With this England ends its tour of the West Indies.
The first match was played at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua and the second match was played at Kensington Oval, Barbados. Both the matches ended in a draw.
With this West Indies won the first edition of the Richards–Botham Trophy.
West Indies captain, Kraigg Brathwaite is declared the player of the series.

3. P V Sindhu wins and Prannoy loses Swiss Open

Ace Indian shuttler and double Olympic medalist, P V Sindhu grabbed the 2022 Swiss Open title with a straight-game win over Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan (21-16, 21-8) in the summit clash of the Swiss Open Super 300 badminton tournament at the St. Jakobshalle Arena in Basel, Switzerland.
In this same venue, Sindhu claimed the World Championships gold in 2019.
This is her second title of the year—she won the Syed Modi India International in Lucknow in January 2022.
Sindhu is the second Indian woman to win the Swiss Open, Saina Nehwal having won it in 2011 and 2012.
Indonesian shuttler Jonatan Christie grabbed the Men’s Singles title defeating India’s H S Prannoy in the finals. (12-21, 18-21)
P V Sindhu is the first and only Indian to become the Badminton World Champion and only the second individual athlete from India to win two consecutive medals at the Olympic Games (2016 Rio Olympics - Silver and 2020 Tokyo Olympics - Bronze)
4. Iga Swiatek is the New Women No1 In Tennis

Poland's Iga Swiatek secured the World Number One title in women's tennis by defeating Swiss player Viktorija Golubic at the WTA Miami Open.
Three time Grand slam champion, Ashleigh Barty’s decision to retire and step out of the rankings opened the door for Iga Swiatek to the top of the WTA Rankings.
Iga became the first Polish player to hold that distinction.
Swiatek became the first Polish player to win a Grand Slam singles title, at the 2020 French Open. With this, she became the youngest singles champion at the French Open since Rafael Nadal in 2005, and the youngest women's singles champion at a major championship since Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon in 2004.
Swiatek becomes the 28th woman to reach the Women Tennis Association (WTA) pinnacle and the youngest since Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark in 2010.

5. Australia wins a Test series in Asia after 2011 by defeating Pakistan

The Australian men's cricket team defeated Pakistan by 115 runs in the third and final test match of the 3 match Test series to win the series 1-0. The Australian team was touring Pakistan after 1998.
The first two test matches were played at Rawalpindi and Karachi respectively which ended in a draw.
The third test was played at Lahore which was won by Australia
Australia won the inaugural Benaud-Qadir Trophy. The test match series between Australia and Pakistan has been named as the Benaud-Qadir Trophy.
This is the third Test series victory of Australia in Pakistan
This is Australia's first Test series win in Asia since beating Sri Lanka 1-0 in 2011.
Usma Khwaja of Australia was named as the Player of the Series.
The Australian team captain was Pat Cummins while Babar Azam was the captain of Pakistan.
6. Maharashtra, Delhi win the compound titles in National Archery championships 2022

Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma was reelected unopposed as the President of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) for a new four year term from 2022 to 2026.
The general body meeting of the BAI was held in Guwahati, Assam on 25 March 2022.
He is also the Vice-President of the Badminton Asia Council.

8. India win the SAFF U 18 WOMEN CHAMPIONSHIP 2022 title

The Indian women's team emerged as champion of the 3rd South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-18 Women’s Championship 2022. This is the first time India has won this title.
India was crowned champion on a better goal difference as compared to Bangladesh. India enjoyed a better goal difference of +11 in comparison to +3 of Bangladesh.
The highest goal scorer of the championship, Lynda Kom of India was declared the most valuable player of the tournament. She scored 5 goals in the championship.
The SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship 2022 was held in JRD Tata sports complex, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand from 15 to 25 March 2022.
Three teams India, Bangladesh and Nepal participated in the championship.

Indian Table Tennis players won two medals at the recently concluded World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender Doha 2022. The WTT Contender took place at Lusail Sports Arena, Doha from 21-24 March 2022.

G Sathiyan and Manika Batra finished as runner-up in the mixed doubles of WTT Contender Doha 2022, losing to the top-seeded Chinese Taipei pair of Lin Yun-Ju and Cheng I-Ching.
Achanta Sharath Kamal won the bronze medal in the men’s singles after he lost the semi final match against Yuan Licen of China.

10. 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships

The 18th World Athletics Indoor Championships was held from 18 to 20 March 2022 in Belgrade, Serbia. World's top athletes participated in a total of 26 events.
Shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Long jumper M Sreeshankar and Sprinter Dutee Chand represented India at the event.
The United States won the highest number of medals (19) whereas Ethiopia won the highest number of Gold (4).
The World Athletics Indoor Championships is held every two years and the first was held in 1985 at Paris, France.
