Young Indian wrestler Antim Panghal won a bronze medal in the women's 53 kg category at the World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

In the bronze medal match, Panghal defeated two-time European champion Emma Jonna Denise Malmgren by a score of 16-6, India's first medal in the ongoing edition of the World Championships.
This achievement added India's total medal tally at the World Championships to 23, which includes one gold, five silver, and 17 bronze medals.

She started by defeating the 2022 world champion, Dominique Olivia Parrish of the United States, in the opening round by a score of 3-2.
Panghal continued her winning streak by defeating Roxana Marta Zasina of Poland in the round of 16.
In the quarterfinals, she had a remarkable win over Natalia Malysheva of Russia with a score of 9-6.
Panghal lost 5-4 to Belarus's Vanessa Kaladzinskaya in the women's 53kg freestyle semi-finals.

Japan's Fujinami Akari won the gold medal.
