Background of Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi:

  • Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi was born on 1st July 1964.

  • Commissioned into the Infantry (Jammu and Kashmir Rifles) of the Indian Army on 15th December 1984.

  • Has served for nearly 40 years in various capacities.

Career Highlights:

  • Served as Director General Infantry.

  • Held the position of General Officer Commanding in Chief, Headquarters Northern Command from 2022 to 2024.

  • Currently serving as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff.

Education:

  • Alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa.

  • Holds an M Phil in Defence and Management Studies.

  • Holds two Master’s Degrees in Strategic Studies and Military Science.

Awards:

  • Decorated with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal.
