Dhanush Loganathan secured a bronze medal in the men’s 55kg event at the IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships 2024 held in Leon, Spain.
An Overview of the News
The 17-year-old Dhanush lifted a total of 231kg, comprising 107kg in snatch and 124kg in clean and jerk.
Dhanush also earned a bronze medal in the snatch category and placed 13th in clean and jerk.
Medalists Details
Gold Medalist: Vietnam's K Duong won gold with a total lift of 253kg (115kg snatch + 140kg clean and jerk).
Silver Medalist: Japan’s Kotaro Tomari took silver with a total of 247kg (108kg snatch + 139kg clean and jerk).
Indian Contingent Performance
The Indian team at the Junior World Championships features three male and six female weightlifters.
Payal: Competed in the women's 45kg category but did not win a medal.
Panchami Sonowal: Competed in the women's 49kg category but also did not secure a medal.
