India tops the medal table at the World Shooting Championships

India topped the medal table at the recently concluded ISSF (International Shooting Sports Federation) Rifle/Pistol  world cup in Cairo, Egypt .

  • The event was held from 28 February to 8 March 2022.

  • India won a total of 7 medals:4 Gold medals, 2 Silver medals and 1 Bronze medals.

  • Norway came second with a total of 6 medals:  3 Gold medals, 1 Silver medals and  2 Bronze medals .

Medal winners of India 

Gold Medal

  • Women’s 25m pistol team – Rahi Sarnobat, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan

  • Men’s 10m air pistol - Saurabh Chaudhary

  • Women’s 10m air pistol team - Esha Singh, Nivetha Paramanantham, Ruchira Vinerkar

  • 25m rapid fire pistol mixed team - Rhythm Sangwan and Anish Bhanwala

Silver medal 

  • Women’s 10m air pistol event - Esha Singh

  • Men’s 25m rapid fire pistol team - Gurpreet Singh, Anish Bhanwala and Bhavesh Shekhawat

Bronze  Medal 

  • 50m rifle 3 positions mixed team event - Shriyanka Sadangi and Akhil Sheoran

ISSF World Cup 

  • The International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) organizes four world cups in a calendar year for rifle/pistol events . 

  • In 2022  the venue of the World cups in chronological order are as follows: Jakarta (Indonesia), Cairo (Egypt), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Baku (Azerbaijan).
