Indian Navy to Host 5th Goa Maritime Symposium

The Indian Navy will host the 5th edition of the Goa Maritime Symposium at the Naval War College, Goa, starting 24 September.

The event is organized by the Defence Ministry of India.
The symposium aims to promote collaborative thinking, cooperation, and mutual understanding between India and key maritime nations in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
The theme of the symposium is "Common Maritime Security Challenges in the Indian Ocean Region: Progressing Lines of Efforts to Mitigate Dynamic Threats".
Key Highlights:
Discussions will focus on addressing illegal and unregulated fishing and other illegal maritime activities.
The event will promote collaborative efforts to enhance maritime security in the region.
Naval representatives from 12 Indian Ocean Littoral countries—Bangladesh, Comoros, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand—will participate.
Observers from Kenya and Tanzania will also attend the two-day symposium.
