History of International Delegates Day
It marks the anniversary of the first day of the San Francisco Conference in 1945.
The purpose of the conference was to establish an organisation that would restore world peace and impose rules on the post-war world order.
The founding member states of the United Nations were representatives of the 50 countries that attended the conference, with Poland later signing the charter, bringing the number of founding member states to 51.
In 2019, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared 25 April as the International Day of Delegates, commemorating the achievement of the San Francisco Conference.
