• He retired in 2012 after serving as the chairman for 48 years.

• Born in Shimla on October 9, 1923, Keshab Mahindra earned a degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

• He joined the Mahindra & Mahindra Group in 1947 and became its chairman in 1963.
