Trekker R Babu rescued after nearly 48 hours

Trekker R.Babu was rescued by the mountaineering team of the Indian Army Southern Command on 9 February 2022, after he was trapped in a cleft on a hill in Kerala’s Palakkad district
R.Babu who along with his friends went on a trekking trip to climb the Kurumbachi hillock in Malampuzha’s Cherad hill . He slipped off a cliff and was stranded in a steep gorge for around 48 hours before being rescued by the army team.

Terms

Hillocks :

It is also called Knoll .It is a land surface that is smaller than a hill and usually is separated from a large hill.

Hill

According to NCERT , A hill is a land surface that rises higher than the surrounding area having an elevation up to 600 metres.

Mountain

Generally, a steep hill with an elevation of more than 600 metres is termed as a mountain.

Gorge

It is a steep narrow valley between two hills or mountains.
