• It was established in 1969 by the Indian Parliament under the CISF Act 1968.

• CISF functions under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

• It was created by an Act of Parliament passed on 15 June 1983, as an armed force of India.

• The CISF is tasked with providing security to India's important government infrastructure projects and industrial buildings.

• Reservation for women was increased from 15 percent to 33 percent in CISF and CRPF.
