The coronavirus outbreak in China began in late 2019. As the infection rate started rising and the number of infected people increased, many parts of the city were sealed.
In light of this, the first International Day of Pandemic Preparedness was observed on December 27, 2020.
The day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly to emphasize pandemic prevention, preparedness and cooperation.
