Yer Lapid, the leader of the Yesh Atid party, has been officially elected as the 14th Prime Minister of Israel.

• Lapid's term could be shortened as he is made the head of the caretaker government ahead of the November 1 election.

• Lapid replaces outgoing Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
