Satyabrata Mukherjee,former Union Minister and President of the West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), passed away on 3 March 2023 in Kolkata.

• Satyabrata Mukherjee died at the age of 90 due to old age ailments.

• He was also known as 'Jolu Babu' within the Bengal BJP.

About Satyabrata Mukherjee

• He was selected as a BJP candidate from the Krishna Nagar seat in the 1999 Lok Sabha elections.

• Mukherjee was the Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers in the Vajpayee government from September 2000 to June 2002.

• Served as Minister of Commerce and Industry from July 2002 to October 2003.

• Mukherjee also served as the Additional Solicitor General of India.
