Nikhat Zareen becomes world champion in 50kg category
Nikhat Zareen defeated Vietnam’s Nguyen Thị Tam to become the world champion in the 50kg category at the World Women’s Boxing Championship in New Delhi on 26 March.

The Indian boxer won against Thi Tam, who is the first Vietnamese boxer to reach the final of the World Championships.
Earlier, Nikhat Zareen became only the second Indian woman boxer to win two gold medals.
Defending world champion Nikhat dominated the bout from the start, landing accurate punches and using her quick footwork to dodge the Vietnamese's attacks.
Nikhat, who hails from Telangana, put up a brilliant performance in the first round and was ahead with a scoreline of 5-0.
In the final round, Nikhat kept her composure and put up an aggressive performance to prove that she is one of the best players in the game.
With this win, Nikhat has come on par with India's legendary boxer MC Mary Kom.
Mary Kom has also won two consecutive golds in the World Championships. Mary has won a record six gold medals in this global competition.
