  • On 24 September 2017, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution declaring 30 September as 'International Translation Day'.

  • September 30 has been chosen as a tribute to St. Jerome on his death anniversary.

  • The celebration of this day was initiated by the International Federation of Translators- FIT.

  • FIT was established in 1953.

  • In the year 1991, this federation started the idea of officially recognizing this day to unite translators around the world.
