Former world number one Amelie Mauresmo, 42, will succeed Guy Forget, as a new Director of French Open.
- Mauresmo is French Open’s first female director.
- Mauresmo won Grand Slam singles titles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
- She has also coached several top players, including former number ones Andy Murray and Victoria Azarenka.
The French Open, officially known as Roland-Garros, is a major tennis tournament held over two weeks at the Stade Roland-Garros in Paris, France, beginning in late May each year. The tournament and venue are named after the French aviator Roland Garros. The French Open is the premier clay court championship in the world.
