  • The day is celebrated every year to commemorate the only visit of Mahatma Gandhi to All India Radio in Delhi in 1947.

  • The Father of the Nation addressed the displaced people who had temporarily settled in Kurukshetra in Haryana after Partition.

  • Gandhiji had said that he saw the medium of radio as a miraculous power of God.

  • A special programme is being organised in the premises of All India Radio, New Delhi to mark the occasion.

  • In the year 2001, this day was officially declared as Public Service Broadcasting Day.
