Adani Commissions India's First Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Plant Of 390 MW In Rajasthan's Jaisalmer

Recently Adani Hybrid Energy Jaisalmer One Limited, a unit of Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), has started operation of a 390 MW wind and solar hybrid power plant at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

  • It is India's first wind-solar hybrid power generation plant.

  • Integrated hybrid power plants, through solar and wind power generation, will harness the full potential of renewable energy and provide a more reliable solution to meet the growing electricity demand.

  • Energy Purchase Agreement has been signed with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for this new power plant at a tariff rate of 2.69 per kWh which is much lower than the Nationally Average Energy Purchase Charge (APPC).

  • With the commencement of operations from this plant, the operational capacity of Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has increased to 5.8 GW. 

  • National Wind-Solar Hybrid Policy

  • The draft National Wind-Solar Hybrid Policy 2016 was released by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy on 14 June 2016.

  • The main objective of this policy is to provide a framework for promoting large grid-connected wind-solar photo-voltaic hybrid systems.

  • Target: Achieving 10 GW of wind-solar hybrid capacity by 2022.
