Eminent playback singer KK passes away

Popular playback singer Krishnakumar Kunath, popularly known as KK, collapsed after a concert in Kolkata and was rushed to a private hospital in the city, where he was declared brought dead. He was 53.

  • He was introduced by A. R. Rahman in a Tamil Film Kadhal Desam.

  • As a playback singer, he has recorded popular Bollywood numbers such as 'Ankhon Mein Teri' (Om Shanti Om), 'Zara Sa' (Jannat), 'Khuda Jaane' (Bachna Ae Hasino) and 'Tadap Tadap' (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam).

  • He has also recorded songs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Bengali, among other languages.

  • The Delhi based singer is survived by his wife and two children.

  • Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur have expressed grief over his demise.
